Khloe Kardashian gave an intimate look at the birth of her second child via surrogate with love rat ex Tristan Thompson in the highly-anticipated premiere episode of season two of Hulu's The Kardashians.
It included actual footage of their son's delivery, which took place on Thursday, July 28 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, as well as the emotional moment that Khloe was able to hold the newborn for the first time.
She was joined in the delivery room by older sister Kim Kardashian instead of Thompson -- though he was later invited by Khloe to the hospital to meet the newborn.
Fans were shocked when it was revealed in July that she was having another child with Thompson just six months after it was uncovered that he'd fathered a child with another woman.
Khloe explains in Tuesday's episode that she was encouraged by the NBA star to go through with an embryo transfer 'around Thanksgiving' last year.
Just a week later, DailyMail.com exclusively revealed that Thompson was expecting a child with fitness model Maralee Nichols. She gave birth to a son named Theo in early December.
The child was conceived in March of that year while he was still actively in a relationship with Khloe.
Despite the unconventional - and heartbreaking - circumstances, Khloe says the arrival of her son allows her to officially 'close that chapter and be done with this trauma.'
The lead up to the birth begins with Kim making her way to Khloe's house after learning that Khloe's surrogate 'has to go into labor early.'
While en route to the hospital Khloe admits to Kim that she's 'not ready' but her sister reassures her that she's more than ready to welcome another child into her life.
The car rolls up to LA's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the duo head to the maternity ward.
As they make their way down the hall, Khloe is shocked to learn that the surrogate is already in labor and that they'll be joining her in the delivery room in just a matter of minutes.
Kim, with her camcorder in hand, captures visuals of the hospital room they've been placed in, while Khloe gets into medical garb.
With footage of heart monitors and other medical equipment on screen, a nurse can be heard instructing the surrogate on how to breathe and when to push.
She also informs Khloe that she'll let her know 'when [the baby] is gonna come.'
The surrogate begins pushing while Khloe waits nearby. Clearly overwhelmed by the entire ordeal, Khloe removes her protective face mask and places her hands over her eyes.
Soon after, footage is shown of Khloe's son's birth as he's swiftly picked up by the doctor and wrapped in a blanket while nurses give him proper afterbirth care.
Khloe soon grabs ahold of the newborn and presses him to her chest before rocking him in her arms.
In confessional, Khloe says that the arrival of her son has allowed her to 'move on' from the traumatic lead up to his birth.
'It's almost like I get to close that chapter and be done with this trauma and put it behind me,' she explains.
Footage of a beaming Khloe appears on screen as she spends time with her newborn bundle of joy.
Kim is next to hold the baby, who she sweetly pecks on the forehead — joking that it's his 'first kiss.'
'Now I get to finally start the healing process. Now, I finally get to start enjoying my life with two kids now,' Khloe tells the cameras.
With Khloe and Tristan's four-year-old daughter True appearing via FaceTime, she's introduced to her baby brother for the first time.
Khloe and Kim's mother Kris Jenner and younger half-sister Kylie Jenner also call in to get their first glimpse at the baby.
Talking about her own newborn, Kylie said she's excited for him to have a 'forever friend' in Khloe's son.
After giving it some though, Khloe does eventually allow Tristan to meet their son at the hospital.
She explains that she was 'on the fence about having Tristan come to the hospital or not but [since] Tristan wants to be here. Then why not? Have him come. I'll never get this moment back.'
In the car ride home, Khloe jokes that her son is 'No Name Johnson' since she's yet to decide on her son's moniker.
With the birth serving as its dramatic conclusion, the premiere episode of The Kardashians kicks off with an intense heart-to-heart between Khloe and Kim that was filmed months prior.
Khloe admits to the 41-year-old SKKN founder that she's fearful to go public with the baby news since she's sure to face backlash in wake of Tristan's paternity scandal.
'I mean, I'm anxious, but…I feel like it just has to be time to talk about… Bruno,' Khloe began, while making reference to the popular song from Disney Pixar's Encanto.
Kim encourages Khloe that despite her reservations about going public, she 'can absolutely do this' and that she'll 'have a sense of relief.'
'Everyone will judge because that's what these f***ing nasty people do anyway. And then it'll be over,' Kim explained passionately, while Khloe described the entire situation, itself, is just 'sad.'
'I think it'll be therapeutic for you to deal [with it]. You haven't wanted to deal. And you're in denial about your relationship, you're in denial this is happening, you're in denial that someone committed to doing this with you and then…' Kim rants, before Khloe cuts her off to add that Tristan had also 'committed to someone else,' aka their then-unborn child.
And after taking a deep breath, Khloe agrees that it is 'time' to reveal her baby news to the world.
In a confessional, a visibly emotional Khloe confesses to producers that when they learned of Tristan's paternity scandal, which was captured in season one and showed Kim breaking the news to her younger sister over the phone after getting wind of an exclusive DailyMail.com story, she had already gone through with her and Tristan's surrogacy plans.
'When you guys learned that Tristan was having a baby with somebody else… there was just something that I wasn't ready to talk about,' Khloe explains, with tears welling up.
'Tristan and I are — I don't even know if I want to say 'Tristan and I.' I am having another baby and obviously it's just really private and I don't want it to get out right now because I want to protect my mental well-being and the surrogate's, as well.
'But, um, yeah, it's just been a lot to go through all at the same time.'
Playing overtop throwback footage from the show's season one finale, Khloe recalls Kim saying Tristan's latest cheating scandal was a clear sign that she 'shouldn't have another baby with him.'
Kim was unaware of Khloe and Tristan's surrogate at that time, but Khloe eventually breaks the news to her over the phone.
She tells her shocked older sister that just a 'couple days ago' they'd done an 'embryo transfer.'
Cutting back to her candid confessional, Khloe says that having a baby on the horizon is supposed to be 'an amazing time' but that the drama has made it a 'different experience' for her.
Khloe reiterates her fears about coming forward about her and Tristan's future child, but that the 'clock's ticking' and she'll have to face the music eventually.
The episode transitions to Khloe arriving at her younger half-sister Kylie Jenner's Hidden Hills estate.
The 25-year-old makeup mogul touches on the arrival of her second child, a son, with rapper beau Travis Scott, 31, while explaining to Khloe that she recently redid their four-year-old daughter Stormi's room.
'I have two kids now,' Kylie exclaims, before taking a moment to check-in on Khloe and how's she coping with her dramatic circumstances.
In confession, Khloe informs audiences at home that her enter 'immediate family knows about the surrogate and the embryo transfer.'
She adds that the pregnancy is a 'dark cloud' that she's been ignoring in the months since Tristan's betrayal.
Kylie reassures Khloe that her child is going to be born into 'the best family of all time.'
Khloe tells her younger sister that their mom Kris Jenner, 66, thinks 'no one's gonna notice' that there's a new addition to the family, which she finds totally ridiculous.
Kylie stresses that 'everything happens for a reason' and that there's no way Khloe could've know that things were going to turn out the way they did.
In another confession, Khloe explains to producers that she and Tristan 'did an embryo transfer days before Thanksgiving' and that she 'found out about Tristan's situation the first week of December.'
She stresses that because the dates are so close, she does not want people to think she went through with the surrogacy after the fact.
'Why would I wanna have a baby with someone who's having a baby with somebody else,' she asks rhetorically.
'Cause I'm not that much of sociopath. I'm a lunatic, but not like f***ing deranged.'
Continuing to comfort Khloe, Kylie reminds her that 'everything is going to be ok' and that her reaction to the circumstances is 'normal.'
'This is obviously very hard to navigate and I just hate that she's sad,' Kylie tells producers while wiping tears from her eyes.
Next on the docket, Kylie asks Khloe how far along she is on putting a nursery together — with Khloe admitting there's 'nothing' in there because 'no one in my house knows' a baby is on the way.
Kylie offers to order the baby furniture for her and keep it in her garage until she's ready. She also tells Khloe that she's saved baby clothes for her from her past pregnancies.
With the 'best family in the word' providing her with support, Khloe remarks that although she's without a partner, she '[doesn't] feel lonely' on her baby journey.
In a following scene, Kylie, Kim and Kendall head to mom Kris' lavish abode to talk about 'how [they] can help Khloe right now.'
Kris confesses that she's 'really worried about her' because Khloe tends to 'have her head in the sand' about things.
Kylie and Kendall take aim at Tristan for 'encouraging' Khloe to move forward with the embryo transfer despite knowing he'd gotten fitness model Maralee Nichols pregnant.
'It's almost like he wanted to trap her into like,' Kendall hypothesized, while Kris suggested that Tristan may have wanted another child with Khloe as a way to 'hold onto her' and eventually 'marry him.'
Kylie notes that she finds Tristan's actions 'really unforgivable.'
With Khloe being so closed off, Kris says she hasn't spoke to her daughter much about the baby and that she'd 'love to throw her a [baby] shower.'
With the sisters chiming in on just how to orchestrate the perfect, yet appropriate shower for Khloe, they all agree that a private, family-only celebration is the way to go.
It then cuts to Khloe's home, where she and daughter True are visited by Khloe's BFF Malika Haqq.
After True excitedly announces that she's going to have a 'baby brother,' Malika asks when Khloe decided to tell True about her future sibling.
Khloe states that Kylie made her tell the four-year-old and that as of now, the entire situation Is 'fun for her.'
To Khloe's dismay, True has been telling anyone who will listen that there's a baby on the way — which puts their privacy in jeopardy.
'I want to keep this private for my loved ones for as long as possible and not have this be some media frenzy,' she explained her in her confessional.
Khloe continues: I can't hear about this for MONTHS about what an 'idiot' I am and like what a 'dumb b****' I am and all these things from everyone else.'
She informs Malika that Tristan keep reaching out to her and 'asking [her] questions' about the baby but she 'just won't answer him.'
Khloe tells producers that she feels 'bamboozled' by her ex for encouraging her to go through with the pregnancy, while also knowing when 'his other child [with Nichols] was being born.'
Khloe reveals that Tristan 'found out July 2' that Nichols was pregnant, according to paperwork she got ahold of, so he was fully aware prior to DailyMail.com exposing his paternity scandal in December.
Though Khloe always yearned to raise her child in a two-parent household, Malika reminds her that she's a 'great mommy' and has nothing to fear.
Later, Khloe gets a visit from mom Kris, who breaks down in tears while sitting her daughter down to discuss the impending baby.
Khloe reminds her mother that she's not the one who's pregnant, but Kris stresses that it's still a time she doesn't want her daughter to 'miss' out on.
She calls it a 'blessing in disguise, which seems to make Khloe, who is seated across from Kris with her arms crossed, uncomfortable.
Kris says in confessional that she feels bad that the 'joy has been sucked out of' the experience, again, like it was when Tristan cheated on Khloe while she was pregnant with their daughter True in 2018.
Kris explains to Khloe that she's so visibly emotional because it feels as though it's the 'first time' she's been allowed to bring it all up to her daughter.
'We don't want to upset you. We don't want you to be sad. But this is supposed to be one of the happiest times in your life,' Kris says, while adding that 'if you do not appreciate those moments you can't get them back.'
Khloe tells her mother that she doesn't want a baby shower this ga around because it's 'uncomfortable for me,' but Kris fires back with: 'I would regret not celebrating this moment with my new grandchild.'
Khloe eventually gives in, but wants the baby shower to be low-key.
Shortly after agreeing to the celebration, Khloe is visited by her cousin CC, who she goes on to reveal her baby news to.
She also rehashes Tristan's past infidelities, including learning just 48 hours before giving birth to True that he'd cheated once again. She describes the ordeal as one that was 'so terrible' to experience.
Despite the heartache she's endured, Khloe confesses to CC and Kris that she's been exploring different 'T' names to call her future son.
Cutting to Kim's Calabasas compound, Khloe discusses with the 41-year-old SKIMS founder what it'll be like in the delivery room with the surrogate.
Kim, who shares four children with ex-husband Kanye West, welcomed her youngest daughter Chicago, four, and youngest son Pslam, three, via a surrogate in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
Kim fears that due to COVID, the hospital may not allow more than two people in the room during the delivery.
After seeking her advice about whether or not to have Tristan there, Kim remarks that if Khloe 'did it once mad at Tristan' then she could 'do it again and have him there.'
Khloe and Kris are then seen baby shopping at an LA boutique, which seems to get the Good American founder excited.
Later, Kris and the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner can kick off Khloe's 'lion-themed' baby shower since her little boy will be due in August, which is 'Leo season.'
Khloe is showered with gifts, including a luxe Dior baby stroller.
Kim, Kylie, Kendall, Kris' boyfriend Corey Gamble. Khloe's BFF Malika, as well as big sister Kourtney Kardashian and her then-fiance Travis Barker, attended the at-home function.
Kim delivers a heartfelt toast, where she expresses that 'there's no one that deserves happiness like' Khloe does.
She sheds plenty of tears before toasting to her baby sister.
They then went around the table to share their 'favorite names' for Khloe's baby, with Corey playfully yelling out that she should call him Ten since it's a 'T' name and he'll be Kris' tenth grandchild.
The Kardashians premieres every Thursday on Hulu.
