Texas A&M quarterback Max Johnson has broken bone in throwing hand

Texas A&M and Alabama will enter Saturday's down with significant question marks at the quarterback position.


Aggies quarterback Max Johnson, who took over for Haynes Ruler in Week 3, has a wrecked bone in his tossing hand and could miss the remainder of the time, as per ESPN Radio.


The injury happened during Texas A&M's misfortune to Mississippi State in Week 5, and Johnson was supplanted by Lord in the final quarter.

Johnson was 19-for-26 for 203 yards and a score prior to leaving the game. Ruler was 6 of 13 with two capture attempts in the final quarter, however he did find as he would prefer into the end zone on the ground.


On Monday, Aggies lead trainer Jimbo Fisher commended Ruler for his play when approached to fill in for Johnson.

"We give him reps consistently with the twos," Fisher said while talking about Weigman. "He's educated, sits right by me on the plane when we travel. He can get things done in the gatherings and is truly advancing. He comprehends everything, what we're doing and the way in which we're making it happen and is improving. I think he will be a generally excellent player.


"We feel alright with him in the game and can play very well with Conner."


For Alabama, ruling Heisman Prize victor Bryce Youthful will be a game-time choice in the wake of harming his shoulder against Arkansas in Week 5.


"Bryce has been rehearsing, and the entire week he's been saying that he could play," Saban told ESPN Thursday. "However, that will be a clinical choice. We've actually got some time, and I need to talk more to Bryce. He's the one in particular who knows how he feels since being an aggravation resilience thing is going.


"He's an intense youngster and incredible contender. We'll see where he is on game day."
