Ariana Madix is on a mission to help a desperate mother find her child in Buying Back My Daughter.
The trailer for the upcoming Lifetime movie, which shows Madix in uniform as Officer Karen, who is working to track down missing teen Alicia (Faith Wright). In the ripped-from-the-headlines story, Madix’s character helps a mom named Dana ( Meagan Good) whose 16-year-old daughter snuck out to go to a party and never returned home.
The trailer opens with a woman offering Alicia a ride: “Get in. I just don’t want some shady guy throwing you into his van.”
But it turns out, the woman is no kind stranger, and the Alicia ends up being abducted as part of a sex-trafficking operation.
In the search for her daughter, Dana finds herself caught up in “the salacious world of online escort ads where, to her horror, she finds Alicia listed for sale,” according to a description from Lifetime.
Madix’s character “helps investigate the case and has a personal connection to the story.”
Lifetime announced in March that Madix, 38, had been cast in the film just weeks after the Vanderpump Rules star very publicly split from her longtime boyfriend Tom Sandoval after discovering he had been conducting a months-long affair with their friend and costar Rachel “Raquel” Leviss.
It’s just one of many new career opportunities that have come Madix’s way in the wake of the Scandoval. In July, she was revealed as one of the celebrities who will take part in season 32 of Dancing with the Stars.
Derek Hough announced the news on Good Morning America at the time, saying, “This season on Dancing with the Stars, we are going absolutely mad — mad for Madix! Say goodbye to the drama and hello to the dance floor!”
“That’s right, I’m Vanderpump Rules’ Ariana Madix, and I will be joining the cast of Dancing with the Stars this season,” Madix said, before she and Hough, 38, offered a preview of her dancing movies.
Madix is also preparing to release Single AF Cocktails, in which she promises to tell all about her messy breakup with Sandoval, 41.
“Now is the time that I’m fully telling my side of the story. Bartending will always be my thing and my new book, SINGLE AF COCKTAILS, is my breakup album, the story of our relationship and the betrayal that ended it all, told through drinks,” she shared on Instagram while unveiling the project.
She said the book, which will be out on Dec. 5, recounts the couple’s story — drink by drink. “Each cocktail tells part of the story of what happened, in my own words,” she explained in her post. “From our happy honeymoon phase, the early issues in our relationship, to when everything broke, and finally, making it out the other side, stronger than before, I’ll cover it all.”
Buying Back My Daughter premieres Oct. 7 on Lifetime.
