If Love Is Blind’s season 5 finale brought closure to another set of hopeful couples, the upcoming reunion will be focused on reopening old wounds.
Love Is Blind: The Reunion, premiering Sunday on Netflix, will reunite the cast for the first time since the finale wedding episode to reveal who’s still together, who gave love a second chance, and to unpack this season’s drama.
The trailer for the reunion special promises no shortage of theatrics as the season 5 cast confronts one another face-to-face.
“We have many, many questions,” co-host Nick Lachey begins, as Milton Johnson loosens his tie and jokes, “Oh man, it’s hot in here.”
Aaliyah Cosby, who left the experiment early due to Uche Okoroha and Lydia Velez Gonzalez’s previous history, returns to the show as she addresses once-close friend Lydia for the first time since their falling out.
“You told me you and Uche discussed coming on this show,” she says, later adding, “I think everybody wants answers. Just be real.”
“I’m not babying you,” Lydia hits back.
The trailer also features another moment from Jared “JP” Pierce and Taylor Rue’s Mexico trip, in which the couple shared some very awkward moments, including an exchange when JP finally admitted he felt uncomfortable with her makeup after their reveal.
“You’re literally putting on a totally different face,” he said in the clip from episode 6.
“That was very clear you did not try,” Taylor tells JP at the reunion, later admitting, “I don’t think he was attracted to me.”
Another heated moment in the trailer comes as they look back on the cast BBQ, where Johnie Maraist accused Stacy of being “deceitful” and Stacy shot back that she’s a “s — — person.”
Confronting each other since their explosive argument, Stacy says, “If you wanna go there, let’s pop the top.”
In response, Johnie appears to tear up and get emotional.
In the final moments of the trailer, Chris admits, “It doesn’t always end in fairytales.”
Then, co-host Vanessa Lachey drops the final question: “Did you guys kiss?”
Izzy appears to be uncomfortable by the question, shifting in his seat and grimacing towards cameras. In response, all Stacy can do is close her eyes and shake her head in disbelief.
Season 5 of Love Is Blind — which recruited 20- and 30something singles from Houston — debuted on Sept. 22. Episodes have been dropping each week until Friday’s 10th and final episode, which saw the remaining couples head to the altar to decide whether to say “I do” or call off their relationships.
While Milton and Lydia ultimately said “I do”, Stacy realized she wasn’t on the same page as Izzy, and the two parted ways.
The reunion’s air date was first announced on Tuesday, with Netflix confirming that it would not be live after their massively delayed season 4 reunion special in April.
Love Is Blind creator Chris Coelen later told The Hollywood Reporter that the show would not attempt another live reunion any time soon. “It was Netflix’s idea to do a live reunion,” he told the outlet. “They came to us, and we all had some misgivings about it.”
The producer also said he experienced the inaugural event like most fans: sitting in his living room watching chaos unfold.
“Normally in that situation, I’d be in the control room. I’d be in the host’s ear. And I wasn’t,” he said. “I lost my mind. I was sitting in front of my TV like, ‘What is happening? Give me the updates. What’s going on?’”
Despite the stress, Coelen found the silver lining in the situation. “Ultimately, the great thing that came out of that night was it showed how much significant interest there is in Love Is Blind. I really appreciated that,” he said.
Love Is Blind: The Reunion airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. ET on Netflix.
