Sister Wives stars Christine Brown, Janelle Brown and Meri Brown are part of an exclusive new club — and Christine is making the most of it.
Christine, 51, shared a hilarious meme replicating the poster for the 1996 film First Wives Club, which originally featured the movie’s stars — Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton — each smoking a cigar.
In the version Christine shared on her Instagram Story Thursday, Meri’s face replaced that of Midler, her own face stepped in for Hawn’s and Janelle’s face appeared in place of Keaton’s.
“Oh my gosh!! I laughed my head off when I saw this!!” Christine wrote atop the post, which also renamed the film’s title to The Ex-Wives Club, referencing the three ladies’ separation from the husband they once shared, Kody Brown.
Each of the three women spent more than 20 years married to Kody. However, beginning with his and Christine’s separation in November 2021, each of their marriages fell apart.
Janelle and Kody were next to separate, announcing the decision in December 2022. Just days later, Meri noted her marriage was also over in a Sister Wives: One on One episode but didn’t officially announce the pair’s split until January.
Meri and Kody had been together the longest, having said “I do” over 32 years prior. Janelle joined the polygamous marriage in 1993, and Christine followed the next year. Both Janelle and Christine were considered “spiritually” married to Kody but not legally married.
In 2010, Kody added Robyn Brown to the group, and she is his only remaining wife.
In the nearly two years since she separated from her husband of 25 years, Christine has found love again. On Oct. 7, she wed David Woolley, who she met on a dating website in 2022. Woolley, 59, proposed in April, and Christine told at the time, “I’ve never been in love like this before, and the world seems like a brighter place with him in it.”
Of her wedding — held in Moab, Utah in front of 330 guests, including Janelle — Christine told, “It’s a fairytale.”
“It’s everything I never thought I would have,” she added. “I get to walk down the aisle to David, him just looking at me the way that he does, it’s a dream come true.”
She wanted “the big white wedding,” she said, because as Woolley pointed out, “she never got” that her first time around.
“She wants to be able to wear a white dress and walk down the aisle with her dad,” Woolley said. “She wants all the bells and whistles.”
He added, “I’m really very lucky, and very happy that someone let her go, because she’s a unicorn.”
Despite their respective marriages to Kody coming to an end, Christine and Janelle still remain involved in each other’s lives.
Christine and Janelle are particularly close. When Christine started dating Woolley, she told she was “worried” about how he would handle the baggage she was bringing. She’s mother to six kids with Kody — Aspyn, 28, Mykelti, 27, Gwendlyn, 21, Ysabel, 20, Truely, 13, and son Paedon, 25 — and was also not keen to let Janelle go.
“When I told him, I’m like, ‘I have a lot of kids and I have a sister wife, and everywhere I go, Janelle has to come with me and all of her children come with me too. There’s not just me,’” she recalled of her conversation with Woolley early on in their relationship. “And he’s like, ‘Okay. Okay.’”
Christine added that her husband “knew people that lived [in] polygamy” but “he’s not a polygamist” himself.
“He knew about polygamy enough, he understood it, and we just clicked and he was just easy,” she says. “He’s just chill.”
Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
