Kourtney Kardashian Barker is sharing her true feelings about her sister Khloé Kardashian’s ex Tristan Thompson.
While waiting for Khloé and Tristan to come over to her Palm Springs house on Thursday’s episode of The Kardashians, Kourtney opened up about her thoughts on the NBA player — and why her daughter Penelope Disick isn’t a huge fan of him either.
“I feel like she gets it from me,” Kourtney, 44, explained after asking her daughter — whom she shares with ex Scott Disick — if it was okay for Tristan, 32, to come over with Khloé, 39. “I told her the first day of school, I was so triggered by him … I know why, but I feel like we all brush it off and are fine, and then I was just so triggered and I was like, ‘I just can’t do it anymore.’”
The Poosh founder elaborated further in a confessional: “Tristan has made horrible decisions and choices with my sister. There’s times when I’m so triggered by him I can’t be around him and then theres times when I just let it go because we just want harmony and, you know, he’s the father of my niece and nephew.”
After arriving at the house and greeting Kourtney, Khloé also reflected on the status of her relationship with Tristan, with whom she shares two kids — daughter True, 5, and son Tatum, 13 months.
“I”m really proud of myself for where me and Tristan are and how I am able to allow him to be the father he wants to be,” she said. “But where I am at with Tristan has nothing to do with what I expect my family members to do. If Penelope has feelings about Tristan, rightfully so. And good for you, girl.”
“I want Penelope to have these feelings and I don’t wanna talk her out of them because I don’t want this behavior to be something that I’m validating or I’m justifying,” the Good American founder continued of her 11-year-old niece. “I want her to know that how she feeling is the right way to feel. We should not accept someone treating us like this.”
Kourtney isn’t the first sister to weigh in on Khloé and Tristan’s complicated relationship. In an episode from early October, Kim Kardashian explained why she can’t totally cut Tristan out of her life.
“I know you guys are gonna hate me for this, and you’re gonna hate us, and you’re gonna think Khloé’s whatever,” she said. “It’s so crazy because he’s such a good friend and he’s such a good dad, but he just couldn’t get it together in that area of being a faithful boyfriend.”
The SKIMS founder continued, “You want to obviously hate him for that. Yeah, of course, his actions and who he was are so f — -ed up, I can’t deny that, and we’ve had our talks about it and had our fights about it… but he’s also shown so many decent things and has been a really good person and friend.”
Kim then revealed that Tristan not only proved himself as a good father to his and Khloé’s two kids, but also for her own four children, whom she shares with ex-husband Kanye West.
“When he saw me struggling with my kids, he stepped up,” she said. “He started showing up to the games, he picks them up, takes them to dinner, and will always come to my defense, especially if it’s stuff with with me and my ex, and I never really forgot that. I’ll never really throw someone away and act like I don’t feel like they can’t grow and evolve.”
Throughout season 4, Khloé has been open about navigating her relationship with Tristan following his repeated infidelity. In the same episode where Kim addressed her feelings about Tristan, Khloé also explained why she continues to defend the NBA player despite the way he’s treated her in the past.
“I want my karma to always be great,” she said. “We’re gonna be in each other’s lives for the rest of each other’s lives because of our kids, so I’m not gonna fight that, and I’m gonna make sure it’s as nice as possible for me.”
During last week’s episode, Khloé admitted to best friend Malika Haqq that she looks forward to the day that she can move on with another man who won’t make her feel embarrassed over his past actions.
“I want to date people, I think, and see what’s out there,” she said. “I want to feel proud when I go into a room and I’m with my man and I don’t think everyone’s laughing at me for being a weak bitch for staying with someone.”
New episodes of The Kardashians drop every Thursday at 12 a.m. ET on Hulu.
