Modern Family, assemble!
On Wednesday night, Sofía Vergara gave fans a behind-the-scenes look of what she described as the “first” cast reunion for the award-winning ABC sitcom.
In photos from the gathering, the 51-year-old actress could be seen laughing with her on-screen family, with the majority of the main cast accounted for.
Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ariel Winter, Rico Rodriguez, Ed O’Neill, Nolan Gould and more were featured in the get-together — with actor Ty Burrell sadly missing out.
In place of Burrell, the entire cast posed for a photo together alongside a portrait of him in character as Phil Dunphy. The cast also shouted “we miss you Ty” and “love you dad” at the photo, which they propped up above a fireplace in a video shared to Vergara’s Instagram account.
“So lucky to have worked with this people for 11 years❤️,” Vergara wrote in another caption. “I love and miss u all guys!!! #modernfamily.”
Other images from the get-together show Vergara chatting it up with her on-screen husband O’Neill, 77, posing with her on-screen son Rodriguez, 25, and laughing on the floor with Ferguson, 48.
Ferguson also posted about the reunion, which he described on Instagram as “nearly” perfect. “We even had our two dads Chris Lloyd & Steve Levitan there,” he added of the showrunners.
The actor also shared a few images from the get-together, including a shot of himself with his onscreen family of Stonestreet, 52, and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, 16.
Stonestreet himself shared a few images from the reunion, alongside a sweet caption about the missing cast member. “For 11 years we would take family pictures for Modern Family and without missing one ever, I would always say, ‘now let’s do one without Ty.’ Last night Ty couldn’t make it to our little impromptu reunion, so I had to bring his favorite picture of Phil so we could ‘do one without Ty.’”
To celebrate the moment, Ferguson uploaded pics of the individual TV families that made up the Dunphy-Pritchett clan. One image showed the on-screen Dunphy crew (minus Burrell), of Winter, 25, Hyland, 32, Bowen, 53, and Gould, 25.
Another featured Vergara and her TV husband and son, O’Neill and Rodriguez. And a third pic showed the original Pritchett crew of O’Neill, Bowen and Ferguson.
While most of the family got together this time around, this week’s reunion wasn’t the only time cast members have shared space together in recent months.
Even before a mini get-together with Bowen and Ferguson in October, Vergara shared snaps from Hyland and Wells Adams’ August 2022 wedding in Solvang, California, when she spent some time with Ferguson, Bowen and Gould as part of the festivities.
During the America’s Got Talent season 17 live semifinals just days later, the actress told that the mini reunion was “amazing.”
“We finished filming the show two weeks before the pandemic began, so we haven’t been able to see each other since then, so this was really nice,” Vergara said. “It was magical getting to celebrate her special day with her and with everyone.”
“[Sarah] looked beautiful and couldn’t have been happier,” Vergara added, adding that her costar “changed dresses, like, four times” throughout the night.
Modern Family can be streamed in full on Hulu.
