The final months of Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell’s life will play out in the new season of Mama June: Family Crisis, which premieres Feb. 9 on WE tv.
Cardwell — who died on Dec. 9 at the age of 29 after being diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in January — let the Family Crisis cameras document her health journey starting in February. Production on the season wrapped up in November before she died.

In the first trailer for Family Crisis’ new season, Mama June Shannon gets emotional about her daughter’s diagnosis and uncertain future.
“I can't say if my daughter is going to be here in five years because I don't know,” Shannon, 44, says in the video provided to Entertainment Tonight.
Cardwell’s husband, Eldridge Toney, recently told that his wife wanted to film her final year for a special reason. “She wanted to bring awareness to her rare type of cancer because there is still so much unknown about it and it is very rare,” he said.
Family Crisis crew members attended Cardwell’s funeral on Dec. 13 as guests but were not filming anything for the show.
Cardwell, a mother of two girls, was no stranger to cameras as she also starred alongside her family in Toddlers & Tiaras and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
Her younger sister Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, 18, paid tribute to Cardwell immediately after her passing.
“Anna was in so much pain last night but now as a family we all know she is at peace now,” Thompson wrote in an Instagram caption. “I really don’t know what to say as my heart is completely broken. Watching my 29-year-old sister this last year battle this horrible disease hasn’t been easy. Anna was a fighter & still is. Lord please wrap your arms around her 2 babies & our family as the next couple of days will make this all a reality 🥹.”
“I’m so glad that you waited til I was home to take your last breath,” she continued. “I would’ve loved for you to get to see me graduate college but I know you will forever cheer me on in heaven!" "We will all make sure your legacy lives on forever. And I promise to always make sure to celebrate our birthday like you never left! The sky looks a little bit different today. We will always love you Anna 💔. You hit me hard with his one Anna but I know your in a better place now and pain free forever!”
