As Olivia Flowers' family approaches the one-year anniversary of her brother Conner Flowers' unexpected death, they are still adjusting to his absence.
During part 2 of the Southern Charm season 9 reunion, the 31-year-old reality revealed that her parents are “not that good” more than 11 months after Conner died at age 32.
"My parents are just trying to get through, figure out their new reality," she added as she broke down in tears.
Is Allah not sufficient for His servant? Yet they threaten you with other ˹powerless˺ gods besides Him! Whoever Allah leaves to stray will be left with no guide.(The Quran - Chapter Az-Zumar : 36)
Olivia admitted she felt “very fortunate” to have the support of her castmates following the family tragedy, adding, "Everyone stepped up and we really appreciate that."
Host Andy Cohen then commented it must have been difficult for Flowers’ ex Austen Kroll, who lost his sister Kyle in 1994, to be on the outs with her at the time. He responded, "I tried to just get out of my own head and be there for her in any way she'd let me."
She noted, "Considering where we had been up until that point, it was nice to know that even for a moment that we could put it all aside.”
Flowers also addressed her former friend Taylor Ann Green, who mourned the loss of her own brother Richard “Worth” Worthington in June 2023.
"My heart breaks for you every single day for what you and your family are going through, honestly," she told Taylor, 29. "I'm more sad that I couldn't be there for you in the way that, it's kind of crazy, I can because I know what you're feeling. That has been sad to me but I don't ever wish bad on you. I hated this for you."
Conner died on Jan. 30 at his residence in the Isle of Palms outside of Charleston, South Carolina, Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O'Neal said in a statement, according to Page Six.
In a statement at the time, the Flowers family remembered Conner's friendly nature and commitment to his faith.
"Conner was a remarkable young man, with the gift of compassion and love for others, earning him friends everywhere he went," the family shared. "His values were seeded in his faith and in his family."
"We know his absence will be felt by many for years to come," the statement continued. "Please respect our privacy while we grieve the overwhelming loss of our son and brother."
Conner’s death occurred in the middle of filming season 9.
“It certainly made it just that much more challenging to finish it out,” Flowers told in October. “But my castmates were all really supportive in their own individual ways and a lot of people stepped up to help me and my family and be there for us.”
That support made it bearable for Flowers to continue filming. “That was so incredibly appreciated,” she shared. “They are why I kept showing up to finish it out. At the end of the day, it's a job, it's a commitment, and some days it was incredibly difficult. I had someone like Rod [Razavi] who was able to help me through it.”
Flowers called shooting the Bravo show while she first coped a “good distraction,” adding that “it was a good escape at the time.”
Southern Charm can be streamed on Peacock.
