Francia Raisa, star of 'How I Met Your Father,' previously disclosed her PCOS diagnosis in August 2023. Now, she's opening up about further challenges with her reproductive health.
On Wednesday, June 26, the 35-year-old actress shared a candid Instagram post, revealing a recent diagnosis that may affect her ability to conceive.
"I’ve been very transparent about my health, especially my PCOS. But these past two weeks have brought some serious revelations," Raisa began in her detailed caption.
She shared her frustration after years of consulting multiple doctors and specialists, still without answers about her health.
"Recently, I found a new gynecologist who diagnosed me with SIBO and endometriosis, significantly increasing my risk of complicated pregnancies in the future," Raisa wrote. "I was shocked."
Despite her commitment to self-care, Raisa found the diagnosis surprising.
"With all the advances in medicine, there’s still a lack of research specifically on women’s health to truly understand how women like me can ensure a healthy life and family," she expressed.
Raisa then turned her focus to the issue of abortion rights, voicing her frustration over the ongoing attacks on women's rights.
She thanked Vice President Kamala Harris for inviting her to participate in a discussion on women’s rights and reproductive freedoms in Arizona, marking the two-year anniversary of the controversial Dobbs decision.
In the cover photo, Raisa is seen smiling in front of Air Force One, expressing her gratitude to Harris for the journey back to LA.
Raisa had revealed her polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) diagnosis in August 2023. According to the Cleveland Clinic, PCOS can cause unpredictable ovulation, irregular menstrual cycles, and missed periods, with associated risks including diabetes and high blood pressure.
Other celebrities who have spoken about their PCOS diagnosis include Bebe Rexha, Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, and Romee Strijd.
In 2021, Raisa appeared on The Talk and discussed her decision to freeze her eggs, ultimately retrieving 28.
"I don’t want to settle. I want to wait for the right person," she said at the time. "I want to be friends first and really know you, because I don’t want to worry about this again. Now, I’m not in a rush to get into a relationship just because my 'biological clock is ticking.'"
She admitted the process was more challenging than anticipated, saying she "cried all the time" during the two-week procedure.
