Kourtney Kardashian Barker, a mother of four, is steering clear of certain exercises that might trigger a vaginal prolapse after giving birth. Despite the pressure to lose the "10 lbs." she gained during her pregnancy with her son Rocky, who was born in November, Kourtney is prioritizing her overall health and well-being.
Kourtney, 45, shared her concerns with her mother, Kris Jenner, 68, in a recent episode of "The Kardashians". While discussing wardrobe options for the Emmy Awards, where her husband Travis Barker was performing, Kourtney mentioned she was opting for "baggy suits." She explained to Kris that although she cares about returning to her pre-pregnancy weight, she’s taking her time due to breastfeeding and the advice to avoid running or jumping for six months to maintain vaginal health.
During a confessional, when a producer asked what "keeping your vagina intact" meant, Kourtney explained, “You can have prolapse, which is where your vagina can, like, fall out, I think.” This condition, known as vaginal prolapse, occurs when the tissues and muscles in the pelvis weaken and overstretch, causing the vagina to slip out of position. It's more common in individuals who have had multiple vaginal deliveries and those who have gone through menopause, as noted by the Cleveland Clinic.
Kourtney, who also shares three children—Reign, 9, Penelope, 11, and Mason, 14—with her ex-husband Scott Disick, is cautious about her exercise routine. Kris suggested she try Pilates, which Kourtney agreed to, mentioning that she had plans to start Pilates the next day and has been sticking to walking for exercise.
Pilates is known to strengthen the pelvic floor, but as the Cleveland Clinic points out, it cannot reverse a prolapsed vagina. Treatments for vaginal prolapse include nonsurgical options like Kegel exercises and vaginal inserts, with surgery being considered for more severe cases.
