Jamie Foxx Opens Up About His Hospitalization Last April
Jamie Foxx has recently shed more light on the mysterious illness that led to his hospitalization in April of last year.
The 56-year-old actor recounted the early days of his health crisis in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by The Art of the Dialogue.
"On April 11th last year," Foxx began, speaking to a small group at an outdoor café in Phoenix, "I had a terrible headache and asked my friend for an Advil."
With a snap of his fingers, he continued, "I was out of it for 20 days. I don’t remember anything."
Foxx explained that while he was in Atlanta, his sister Deidra Dixon and daughter Corinne Foxx took him to the first doctor. “They gave me a cortisone shot,” he said, describing how the injection is used to relieve pain, swelling, and irritation, according to the Mayo Clinic.
“The next doctor said something’s going on up there,” he added, pointing to his head but stopping short of elaborating further, eliciting laughter from the crowd.
In a previous Instagram post, Foxx credited his sister Deidra with saving his life during the ordeal, stating, "without you, I would not be here ... had you not made the decisions that you made, I would’ve lost my life."
After his recovery, Foxx returned to host the FOX competition show "Beat Shazam," having missed season 6 due to his illness. He has also hinted at a return to stand-up comedy, promising to share his experience. In February, he mentioned, “Going to get on somebody’s stage somewhere near you. I got some jokes and a story to tell…."
