Kate Middleton received a standing ovation at Sunday’s Wimbledon Tennis Championships, and a lip reader has unveiled her endearing reaction.
The Princess of Wales, 42, made a much-anticipated appearance at the annual Grand Slam event while continuing her cancer treatment following a diagnosis in March.
She thrilled fans as she arrived at the All England Lawn Tennis Club with her 9-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte, and her sister, Pippa Middleton.
Lip reader Jeremy Freeman analyzed the moment Princess Catherine took her seat beside her daughter as Centre Court erupted in applause and cheers.
Middleton had asked Charlotte to “come over here” as they got to their seats, Freeman told The Sun.
She then thanked the lady accompanying them in the royal box, before turning to the crowd with a broad wave.
The royal then greeted fellow spectators, before turning to the lady next to her and describing the audience’s reaction to her presence as “so sweet.”
After the match, where Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets, Princess Catherine presented the trophy to both the champion and the runner-up.
She shook hands with both players before handing over their well-deserved awards.
Her appearance comes one month after she joined the royal family for King Charles’ birthday celebrations on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the Trooping the Colour ceremony.
The Princess was accompanied by some Hollywood royalty in the royal box during Sunday’s match.
Actress Julia Roberts and her cinematographer husband, Danny Moder, as well as actors Tom Cruise and Benedict Cumberbatch, were seen sitting near the royal.
As patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, the future queen — an avid tennis enthusiast — has made it a tradition to attend the tournament each year and is often seen watching matches from the royal box on Centre Court.
In previous years, Middleton attended both the men’s and women’s finals and presented the winners and runners-up with their trophies.
While she supported the annual championships, her husband, Prince William, headed to Berlin, Germany to cheer on the England Men’s soccer team in their match against Spain in the final of the 2024 UEFA European Football Championships.
The Prince of Wales, 42, who is the president of the Football Association, soccer’s governing body in England, also brought Prince George along to enjoy the sporting event.
The Quran - Chapter Al-Hashr: 09 - 10
As for those who had settled in the city and ˹embraced˺ the faith before ˹the arrival of˺ the emigrants, they love whoever immigrates to them, never having a desire in their hearts for whatever ˹of the gains˺ is given to the emigrants. They give ˹the emigrants˺ preference over themselves even though they may be in need. And whoever is saved from the selfishness of their own souls, it is they who are ˹truly˺ successful.
And those who come after them will pray, “Our Lord! Forgive us and our fellow believers who preceded us in faith, and do not allow bitterness into our hearts towards those who believe. Our Lord! Indeed, You are Ever Gracious, Most Merciful.”
