Tori Spelling recently opened up about her journey to get dental veneers, revealing her past insecurities about her smile. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum visited her longtime friend and cosmetic dentist, Dr. Kevin Sands, to undergo the procedure and shared the experience on Instagram.
Spelling, who has known Sands since they were 15, previously featured him on her podcast, misSPELLING, where they talked about her dissatisfaction with her natural teeth. “I look back at 90210 and I smiled so big in every scene,” Spelling, 51, said to Sands during her visit.
“You had the best looking teeth,” Sands replied, who has also given singer JoJo Siwa her veneers.
“I did,” Spelling agreed, reminiscing about her time as Donna Martin on the hit show at age 17.
Sands explained the veneer process to Spelling, noting that they would remove a thin layer from the top of her teeth. According to the Cleveland Clinic, veneers are custom-made shells that fit over the front surfaces of teeth, unlike crowns which cover the entire tooth.
Sands pointed out areas for improvement in her smile, noting, “It looks like your teeth are disappearing on the sides,” and mentioned that he planned to lengthen her teeth and ensure the veneers look as white as possible without appearing artificial.
Spelling shared that her smile used to be her signature feature when she was younger, but as she aged, she neglected her dental care. “When I talk to people, I’ll put my hand up and stuff,” she said, demonstrating how she would cover her mouth due to her self-consciousness. “It’s really zapped my confidence.”
However, she expressed excitement about the transformation. “I’m super-excited because Kevin is going to give me a whole new smile,” Spelling said.
She posted a video showing the preparation for her veneers, expressing that even with temporary veneers, her confidence had significantly improved over the past two weeks. The video concluded with Sands applying her custom-made veneers, and Spelling beaming with her new smile.
“I’m smiling again, and I just feel so much better,” she shared, clearly delighted with the results.
