Alfonso Ribeiro is poised to grace the stage once more, flaunting not just his signature charisma but a notable reduction in his physique. With a renewed spirit and 20 fewer pounds to carry, the seasoned host is gearing up to entertain audiences in the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars" and "America’s Funniest Home Videos."
Discussing his co-hosting role alongside Julianne Hough for the popular dance show, Ribeiro hints at a riveting season ahead: "It's shaping up to be a fierce competition this time, with moments of pure joy. We’re in for a treat with the kind of dancing that's on the cards."
Reflecting on his own transformation, he admits, "Shedding those 20 pounds has me thinking I might just look a bit sharper when they have me jump into those little routines during the opening segments. I'm geared up and ready to dazzle."
Ribeiro, celebrated for his iconic role on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," hasn’t delved too deeply into his methods of slimming down. However, he's been candid about his family's dedication to wellness, a journey documented by his wife, Angela Unkrich, who frequently showcases her passion for clean eating on Instagram.
Last October, while speaking on the "Tamron Hall Show," Ribeiro shared a pivotal moment that led to a dietary overhaul for his family—spurred by a health scare involving his young son. "He had a health concern, and that became our learning curve in terms of nutrition," he recounted.
Now, their household embraces a strict, non-toxic regimen. "We've eliminated sugar, and we're gluten-free, corn-free, dairy-free, oats-free—steering clear of anything that triggers inflammation."
With the twin premieres of "Dancing With the Stars" on September 17 and the milestone 35th season of "America’s Funniest Home Videos" on September 29, Ribeiro’s calendar is brimming. "Juggling two shows is no small feat," he concedes, "but they’re both projects that I cherish. I'm deeply honored to be a part of them." Reflecting on his long tenure, he adds, "As AFV marks its 35th year, and with this being my 10th, it's set to be a memorable run filled with joy and hilarity."
Regarding the dance competition, Ribeiro remains in suspense about the forthcoming talent roster. "Names are being considered, and it’s getting close," he hints. "With it being an Olympic year, I'm hopeful we might see some Olympians in the mix. It’s shaping up to be a stellar season."
Earlier this year, Ribeiro indulged in a close-knit adventure—a scenic eight-day cruise along the Rhine River, curated by Adventures by Disney. Accompanied by nine of his loved ones, including Angela, their three youngest children, his parents, and in-laws, the trip left an indelible mark on him. "I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did," he reveals. "It was a delightful surprise. The whole family, especially the kids, had a fantastic time, and my wife loved every moment."
Through this blend of professional engagements and cherished family experiences, Alfonso Ribeiro continues to find a balance between work and personal joy, dancing through life with renewed vigor and a lighter step.
