Bachelor Australia alum Megan Marx, aged 35, is determined to explore every possible avenue to combat her rare, degenerative neurological condition.

Diagnosed with spinocerebellar ataxia in 2023, Marx recently shared a humorous video on Instagram, pondering whether certain activities could slow the progression of her disease. In the clip, she types into Google, "Are orgasms good for brain health?" The search result, which states that genital stimulation and orgasm boost blood flow to the brain, brings a mischievous smile to her face as she leans back onto her couch.

"Doing my best to decelerate this brain condition, one orgasm at a time," Marx quipped in her caption.

Her followers flooded the comments with encouragement, with one person humorously noting, "Anything’s worth a try, Megs. Beats an apple a day." Marx responded in kind, "I suppose we must conduct our own experiments!"

Marx initially disclosed her diagnosis on Instagram in January 2023. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, "After months of waiting for genetic test results, I met with the neurologist. The news wasn’t great. Diagnosis confirmed." Alongside the revelation, she posted a selfie, expressing her emotions: "Some tears while [boyfriend Keith Newman] took over the conversation. F— huh!"

Spinocerebellar ataxia, a group of hereditary brain disorders, impacts the cerebellum and spinal cord, leading to coordination issues with physical movements. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the condition affects between one to five individuals out of every 100,000. Over time, it may impair vision, motor skills, speech, and mobility, with symptoms typically emerging after age 18 and gradually worsening over the years.

Although there’s no cure, treatment plans focus on alleviating symptoms and enhancing the quality of life.

In the wake of her diagnosis, Marx has embraced her physical abilities with gratitude. "Cherishing my body as it is, before neurological degeneration attempts to claim parts of me," she remarked. "Celebrating love, skinny dipping, hiking, painting, and even those awkward conversations in bars."

"Actually, I feel thankful overall. Others have received far worse diagnoses," she concluded. "Just some processing to do. Lots of living left to experience."

In June, Marx shared a touching Instagram post showcasing how she continues to savor life despite her condition. The video starts with her in tears, soaking her head in a bathtub, then transitions to joyful moments—snorkeling, biking, playing guitar, sitting by the fire, enjoying the company of her dog, working out, and spending time with loved ones.

"To those with rare, untreatable diseases—there's still so much sweetness in love and life," she wrote in the caption. "To my fellow Spinocerebellar Ataxia warriors 🧡🧡🧡."
