When doctors told legendary TV host John Tesh he might only have 18 months to live, the future looked uncertain. A decade later, he’s still fighting—and his story is a powerful reminder of resilience and hope.
When John Tesh was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer in 2015, doctors warned that his tumors might be inoperable and estimated he had about 18 months to live.
But ten years later, the musician and former TV host is still here—and still fighting.
Tesh revealed that although the cancer eventually spread and became metastatic, his condition remains stable thanks to ongoing treatment and careful monitoring. His doctors use a strategy called “pulsing,” where treatment is given intermittently to manage the disease.
Throughout the journey, Tesh says one person has been central to his survival: his wife, Connie Sellecca. She helped him find specialists at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where doctors had experience treating rare forms of prostate cancer.
While living with cancer brings uncertainty, Tesh says the experience has also deepened his appreciation for life. Today he focuses on family, music, and gratitude for every day he gets.
His story reminds us that hope, persistence and the right support system can rewrite even the most frightening prognosis.
