Morgan Wallen returned to the stage Thursday evening after a doctor-ordered vocal rest – and is updating fans on her health.
The country singer took to his Instagram Story from Florida ahead of his first gig back to update fans and apologise for April's last-minute cancellation.
"How's it going, everyone?" I simply wanted to let you know that I am in Jacksonville, and that we will be performing tonight – and all weekend. "I wouldn't say I'm completely recovered, but I'm doing much better," Wallen, 29, said in a short video from the event.
"And I just wanted to apologise again to everyone in Oxford for how things went down." "I thought I was going to be fine, but I wasn't," he said. "We're working on a rescheduled date — we're almost there; I just don't have the exact date yet." So as soon as I do, I'll notify you."
"I appreciate you all, and I can't wait to get out onstage tonight," he said before signing off. "I love you all and appreciate all of your support." God bless you, and I'll see you soon."
Later that night, the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena released a video of Wallen onstage singing his No. 1 song "You Proof."
On April 23, the "Last Night" singer cancelled his gig in Oxford, Mississippi, just minutes before it was scheduled to begin.
Shortly before his second night at Vaught Hemingway Stadium at the University of Mississippi, video boards inside the arena broadcast a message that saddened those in attendance.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Morgan has lost his voice and will be unable to perform tonight." "As a result, tonight's show has been cancelled," the notice stated. "Please proceed safely to the stadium exits." Refunds will be offered at the place of purchase for tonight's event."
Several thousand fans were already crowded inside the stadium at the time of the announcement, and some were uploading photographs from the event on social media as they awaited the country singer.
The following night, Wallen said that the three remaining gigs in Michigan, Illinois, and Nebraska that week would be rescheduled to meet his health difficulties.
"Y'all know how important my fans are to me, so I'm devastated by this news," he wrote in an Instagram Story message. "There's nothing I'd rather do than perform on stage for you guys." However, starting of today, I am on doctor-ordered vocal rest, and we must postpone this week's shows."
"I appreciate and understand everything you do to get to my shows, so it would be unfair of me to put on a show that I know will not be 100%," Wallen stated. I'm doing everything I can to speed up the process of reaching 100%."
Following the cancellation of the artist's second gig at the University of Mississippi's Vaught Hemingway Stadium, a security guard from the venue was recorded alleging Wallen was too inebriated to perform. However, the security firm and the country star's management have now knocked down the accusations.
After the video went viral, BEST Crowd Management responded on their Instagram Story, denying the guard's claim. "A hired employee of BEST Crowd Management made false claims as it related to last night's Morgan Wallen concert, and we do not stand by the detail in his statement," the post stated.
The remark was subsequently shared on Instagram by Seth England, CEO of Wallen's label Big Loud Records, who complimented the corporation. "Thank you, @bestcrowdmanagement, for correcting your employee, who made up an entire story that was far from true." "Every detail was fabricated," he allegedly wrote.
