Sparks flew at her Nashville gig at Nissan Stadium on Friday night as she revealed Speak Now (Taylor's Version) and lit up the pedestrian bridge purple to match the album.
Swift, 33, said as she took the stage alone for her solo songs, "There's a different reason that I'm really excited about this part of the set tonight." Because I've been planning something for quite some time."
"You know how I love to plan things, and how I love to surprise you with the things I plan," she said. It's my love language with you — I plot, scheme, and plan, and then I get to tell you all about it. If you focus your attention on the back huge
The new Speak Now cover then surfaced, along with the caption (Taylor's Version) and the publication date – July 7, 2023.
Swift then launched into one of the album's biggest singles, "Sparks Fly."
"It gives me great delight and joy to announce that my version of Speak Now will be available on July 7 (just in time for the 9th, iykyk ) I wrote Speak Now entirely on my own between the ages of 18 and 20. "The songs that emerged from this period in my life were distinguished by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions, and wild wistfulness," she wrote on social media following the announcement.
"I love this album because it tells a story about growing up, flailing, flying, and crashing... and still living to tell the tale." With six new songs pulled from the vault, I can't wait to celebrate Speak Now (Taylor's Version) with you on July 7th. TaylorSwift.com is now accepting pre-orders. 💜💜💜"
Fans have long suspected that Speak Now would be the next album to be re-recorded.
Swift embraced all of her eras for her Grammys red carpet appearance in February. She did, however, appear in a midnight blue two-piece set by Roberto Cavalli, a designer with whom she collaborated during her Speak Now phase and who later designed special costumes for her Eras Tour.
Following the release of music videos for her Midnights album in January, fans discovered a lot of Easter Eggs pointing to her 2010 album. Fans observed that she incorporated the same guitar she played every night on her Speak Now tour in one instance in the "Anti-Hero" music video.
To establish the tone for the fairytale plot, she performed an instrumental version of "Enchanted" from Speak Now at the beginning of the "Bejewelled" music video.
Meanwhile, Swift was pictured on a walk in New York City with ex Joe Alwyn in October, carrying a Tremont Leather Cross Body Bag by Ralph Lauren, which some fans mistook for an Easter egg.
The purse is one of the "oldest in [Swift's] collection and debuted back in October 2010," according to Taylor Swift Style, a fan-run style blog dedicated to the singer. Swift's attire, especially her grey tights, also bears a remarkable resemblance to styles she wore during her Speak Now era, according to fans.
Scooter Braun purchased Swift's former record label Big Machine, giving him custody of the masters for her first six albums, prompting the singer to re-record. (In November, he sold the masters to Shamrock Holdings for $300 million.)
