Krista Allen is getting candid about her departure from The Bold and the Beautiful.
The 52-year-old soap actress, who played Dr. Taylor Hayes for two years on the daytime drama, shared her thoughts on being axed from the show.
“I have no idea what’s going on,” Allen told of the show producers’ decision while attending the 50th Daytime Emmy Awards.
There is also a sign for them in the night: We strip from it daylight, then—behold!—they are in darkness. The sun travels for its fixed term. That is the design of the Almighty, All-Knowing.As for the moon, We have ordained ˹precise˺ phases for it, until it ends up ˹looking˺ like an old, curved palm stalk.(The Quran - Chapter Yasin : 37 - 39)
She noted, however, that she had known “for a long time” that she would be getting cut from the show but CBS “just never announced it.”
“The contract was dropped, which is so crazy. It’s like, make that make sense,” the actress said of her exit.
Allen, who was nominated for best supporting actress for her performance in a daytime drama series at the Daytime Emmy Awards, said it was bittersweet getting the nomination and having the news break that she wouldn’t be returning.
Deadline previously reported that Allen was told in October that her contract for the show wouldn’t be renewed. Her last appearance on the show was on Nov. 8.
Allen recalled that she didn’t have any words when she heard the news.
“I didn’t know what to say, so I didn’t say anything. But yeah, there’s no better time than now,” she told.
As for what’s next for her, the Emmy nominee teased that she might swap a script for a writer’s pen.
“I think I might write a book,” Allen declared.
“It’s based on a true story… About a woman who took over a role on a soap opera and against all odds ended up winning over a fan base and getting nominated for an Emmy,” she explained. “And then there’s a lot of backstage drama going on, and she has to find her way.”
She noted that the book would primarily be written for her own enjoyment — and would even have some daytime soap aspects.
“I think I could write something really fun, really make it dramatic and really soapy,” Allen said. “I figure if I could just make a fun book and just make it into a real-life soap opera kind of thing because it kind of feels that way.”
“But yeah, it could be fun,” she added. “It could be like a fun thing.”
