Cameron Hamilton still remembers the first time he laid eyes on wife Lauren Speed-Hamilton!
On Tuesday’s episode of Tamron Hall, the Love Is Blind sweethearts — who helped make the Netflix reality dating show a phenomenon during its inaugural season — opened up about their beginnings on the series and the first time they met in person after getting engaged in the pods.
For Cameron, 33, he couldn’t help but gush about Lauren’s appearance — even behind closed doors.
“I remember seeing, like through the plexiglass doors that open up in that reveal, this sort of silhouette and I was like ‘That can’t be her,’” he recalled. “I thought it was a cutout, like a cardboard cutout.”
“But it was really her and I just — when I saw her, you can see it on the show, I’m just like… my eyes bugged out,” he continued.
Thinking back on the moment from her perspective, Lauren, 36, added, “Oh my God. I was so nervous, Tamron.”
She explained that since they were among the first set of couples to launch the hit series, she “didn’t know what to expect.”
“But when they opened [the doors] during the reveal ceremony, he was so handsome. Like I said in the show, he was literally like Prince Charming to me,” Lauren added. “One, because of all the things he was saying, how he was treating me and because he’s easy on the eyes. So, I was happy.”
Cameron and Lauren — who became the first couple on the show to get engaged — celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in November.
“It feels like a flash,” Lauren. “Even though I know for some people who’ve been married for 50 years, they’re like, ‘Five years? That’s nothing. That’s just the beginning.’ But we feel so blessed and we’re happy.”
The pair marked the occasion with an intimate vow renewal at the Bellagio Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. While there, they even carved out some time to see Usher perform during his residency.
Reflecting on what it meant to spend half a decade together, Cameron added, “Five years, it is both a long time and not very much time. Simultaneously, it’s really a matter of perspective. I mean, it’s gone by really quickly, but then there have been times where marriage takes a lot of work. You have to put in a lot to get to a good place, which I feel great about where we are.”
The fan favorites said they are also planning on making their way back onto TV screens.
“We definitely are planning our return to TV. We hear people’s cries for us to be hosts. And I think it would be a really wonderful thing. I really would love to help couples find love in this kind of unconventional way, not necessarily Love Is Blind, but maybe our own format. And I really love that idea of helping people find love,” Cameron said.
All five seasons of Love Is Blind are streaming on Netflix. Season 6 will premiere on Feb. 14, 2024.
