Sophia Bush found common ground with her friends as she navigated her divorce from husband Grant Hughes earlier this year.
On the latest episode of the Drama Queens podcast, the One Tree Hill alum, 41, revealed that she and her pals renamed their group chat “Hot Divorce Summer” as they navigated breakups from their partners.
“Do you remember that Megan Thee Stallion song ‘Hot Girl Summer’?” Bush asked co-host Bethany Joy Lenz, who responded, “Yeah.”
The Love, Victor actress shared the group chat received the new moniker as the number of “separations and divorces just kept growing” among her friends.
“At one point someone renamed it ‘Hot Divorce Summer.’ And I was just dying,” she shared. “I was like the fact that we have this group chat that is literally giving everybody life and people are trading recommendations for lawyers, sending each other quotes from phenomenal writers. We have a book club going. We’re sending each other really hilarious memes from TikTok. It just got so great.”
She then suggested the group chat might be the perfect for the big screen, saying, “That’s the rom-com I want to watch, is like all the women getting free.”
It confirmed in August that Bush and Hughes separated after 13 months of marriage.
“Sophia and Grant were friends for 10 years and bonded during COVID through their love of community service,” a source close to the couple said at the time. “They continue to run their nonprofit together and remain good friends.”
Since then, Bush has moved on with retired professional soccer player Ashlyn Harris. The pair were spotted together at Art Basel in Miami where they posed with former Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn and gallery owner Michelle Tillou.
Following news of the new pairing, Hughes sent his well wishes to his ex. A rep for the entrepreneur told in a statement, “Grant will always want the best for Sophia, and is supportive of all that makes her happy and fulfilled.”
