Morgan Wade Shares Update on Double Mastectomy Recovery 'I Have 0 Regrets'

Morgan Wade is opening up about her double mastectomy recovery.

The country singer, 29, underwent a preventative double mastectomy last November after testing positive for the RAD51D gene mutation, which according to the Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered advocacy group puts carriers at a 20 to 40 percent lifetime risk of breast cancer.

“I haven’t talked much about my post surgery recovery from my double mastectomy and reconstruction I had back in November,” Wade began her caption on Sunday as she shared a carousel post of pictures of her recovery.

In the first photo, the artist shared side by side mirror selfies of herself after the surgery and more recently. The first snap featured Wade wearing a post surgery bra, as well as a compression bandage and surgical drains.

Meanwhile, the second selfie showed Wade flexing her bicep while wearing a blue sports bra, backwards baseball cap and jogging bottoms.

“For those that don’t know I have the rad51d gene mutation and with my family history of breast cancer I decided to be proactive,” Wade continued in her caption. “It’s been 4 months and I’ve been back to powerlifting and running. Started back to that around January. There have been a few things I haven’t been able to do until now — the last month I’ve finally been back to doing what I want.”

Some of those activities include "pull-ups, push-ups and getting a massage," which was she unable to do due to being unable to lie on her stomach after the procedure.

After sharing photos of herself flashing a thumbs up at the camera after the surgery and resting in bed with a box of Crumbl Cookies, Wade shared a video of herself doing pull-ups at the gym.

Going on to address some of the questions she'd been receiving on social media, the “Fall In Love With Me” singer revealed that she’s "happy" with the implants she got, adding that she doesn’t have nipples due to “the breast cancer my aunt had started in her milk ducts and we wanted no chance of that with me.”

“It was an adjustment to look at myself for a minute,” she continued. "I’m still adjusting to how different my body looks — change is never easy — but this was worth it. I have 0 regrets and I am extremely happy with the choice I made.”

Wade added that she’s “blessed God got me through this and has allowed me to heal fast and I look forward to a healthy long life Lord willing.”

She then revealed that her next step in her journey is egg retrieval and eventually undergoing a hysterectomy, as well as a “oophorectomy (that I can hold off on a little longer due to my age).”

“Thank you all for continuous prayers and support and love,” she concluded the post. “Excited to be working and getting ready for tour.”

Sharing her support for Wade in the comments section, close friend Kyle Richards wrote, "❤💪🏼," while Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause added, "❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹🙏🏼glad you’ve had a safe recovery!"

In December, Wade told that although she was still processing her surgery, it was "so worth it."

“I would rather have done all this and never know if I was going to get breast cancer or not,” she said at the time. “I would’ve rather done this and have that peace of mind. Life is short, life is precious, and I’m grateful for the advances with science that we have the knowledge to be able to go and take care of these things.”
