Savannah Chrisley recently shared her experiences with dealing with trauma on her Unlocked podcast. The Chrisley Knows Best alum revealed that she attended an intensive therapy program called Onsite twice, describing it as a "game-changer" and reflecting on what she learned from a journal she kept during that time.
“I think for me, the whole reason I was going was to help me deal with trauma,” she said. “From childhood to now, there are so many different types of trauma in my life.”
Chrisley, 26, mentioned that her first journal entry was around her birthday two years ago, detailing her initial week of therapy. She learned that trauma can “outlive an event because it lives in the body,” a concept she personally experienced.
“You'd see it with me, that something's happened and it's triggered something and I break down or fall apart or have a freakout, whatever it may be, because you don't realize that your body reacts before your mind reacts,” she explained.
Chrisley revealed that trauma had been affecting her for “almost 20 years of my life.” Before therapy, she often used past experiences “as an excuse for my poor behavior.” One significant aspect of her healing was learning to find “grace” for herself and others despite her past experiences.
“I've been very open about my family dynamics, and I am not great at grace,” Chrisley admitted. "There are some things I'm just not great at when it comes to people who have wronged me. But also, understanding your family of origin allows you to have more grace.”
She emphasized the importance of recognizing the reality of her family life, rather than maintaining a picture-perfect image. “The moment you see it for what it is, this is the moment you're allowed to even give yourself grace for your feelings towards people or the situation, which is hard," she added.
Chrisley previously discussed the trauma she experienced around the time her family began filming their reality series, including her suicide attempt at 15 or 16 years old. “For me, it was more a cry for help,” she recalled. "It's so crazy because when you go through so much trauma, I feel like your mind just blocks it out.”
During this difficult time, her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, were incredibly supportive. “My dad spent countless hours with me every day, just trying to get me to talk,” she remembered. "Telling me his life stories, his trauma. Trying to let me know, like, 'Hey, I'm not this perfect person you've always thought I am. I've gone through stuff in my life, too. I've had trauma. I want you to feel comfortable.' And talking to me about it. And it took me a while."

By the stars when they fade away!
The setting of the stars is a symbol which hints at the stable and flawless system governing the revolution of stars.
This is an indication that the spiritual system established with the help of revelation and prophethood should also be flawless.
