One of the things I love about the UK is that they don’t seem to adhere to the America hierarchy standards of celebrity. In America, the film stars are the ultimate “get” for a party, followed by television stars, followed by reality stars. As far as political figures and anybody who does anything outside of Hollywood… well, they can become “celebrities” too, but they’re going to be the exceptions to the American celebrity hierarchy. In the UK, I feel like it’s more “anything goes!” Reality stars are given even more legitimacy over there, and (personally, IMO), I think the British have more respect and love for their television stars because they love TV more than we do.
