After the Celtics advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals on Thursday, Jayson Tatum had one very important message to deliver.
"I want to send an apology to the legend Janet Jackson," Tatum, 25, said after the win on NBA on TNT.
"We were supposed to close it out in Boston," said the Celtics star, who was named to his fourth all-star team this season. Her performance had to be rescheduled. I hope she notices this. "Please accept my apologies."

The blunder occurred after the seventh-seeded Atlanta Hawks forced a Game 6 against Tatum's second-seeded Celtics in Boston, an unexpected result that meant they would play another game at State Farm Arena.
Jackson, 56, was set to perform at the Hawks' arena on Thursday but had to reschedule after the Hawks gained one more home game. That was the Hawks' final game of the season, as the Celtics won the series 4-2 and advanced to the second round.
Live Nation revealed in a statement to HotGossipNewz, "Due to the Atlanta Hawks playoff game, the Janet Jackson show originally scheduled for Thursday, April 27 at State Farm Arena has been moved to Friday, April 28."
Live Nation has agreed to honour all tickets for the original event date on Friday. Furthermore, the company stated that "refunds will be available at the point of purchase for those who are unable to attend."
"This is such an exciting time for the city with world-class events between Hawks Playoff basketball, Janet Jackson, and Taylor Swift in downtown Atlanta," said Trey Feazall, Vice President of Programming for State Farm Arena, in a statement to HotGossipNewz.
"We are committed to ensuring that all of our guests have a great night out at each of our events, and we are working with our partners to provide the most seamless experience possible," he said.
Trae Young, the Hawks' star, also apologised to Jackson on Wednesday, prior to Game 6, albeit he added a "not sorry" at the end of his message. "I'm sorry, but I'm not sorry to this LEGEND..""I'm hoping she can make it to the game now," Young tweeted.
