The first complete teaser for the next Transformers film showcases a slew of Autobots and Maximals – Cybertron's furry and feathered cousins — as well as a planet-snarfing threat: Unicron! Yes, the largest, deadliest, most expensive Transformer of all is on its way to Earth for a snack, and only the combined powers of Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal can marshal a defence force that is more than meets the eye in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

This is unmistakably a '90s film: It's set in 1994 (thus the look of the World Trade Centre buildings in lower Manhattan), contains your favourite Beast Wars Transformers, and includes a spliced-up version of "Ruff Ryder's Anthem" to create the tone.

Steven Caple, Jr. (Creed II) directs Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which stars Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback as humans caught up in an interplanetary robot conflict. Luna Lauren Velez, Dean Scott Vazquez, and Tobe Nwigwe round out the (human) cast. Peter Cullen plays Optimus Prime, Ron Perlman plays Optimus Primal, Peter Dinklage plays Scourge, Michelle Yeoh plays Airazor, Liza Koshy plays Arcee, John DiMaggio plays Stratosphere, David Sobolov plays Rhinox, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez plays Nightbird, Pete Davidson plays Mirage, Cristo Fernández plays Wheeljack, and Tongayi Chi plays Cheetor.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be released in theatres on June 9.
