Prince Harry will not be wearing his military uniform to the coronation of his father, King Charles, and Queen Camilla.
The Duke of Sussex, 38, will attend the historic ceremony in a morning suit, which means he will not be in uniform or wearing any of his military medals. According to sources, Harry was urged to don a morning suit — and he gladly obliged.
Harry spent ten years in the British Army, including two tours in Afghanistan.
In addition, the prince has no formal role in the service and will not take part in the Coronation Procession from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace following the crowning ceremony.
Harry is anticipated to sit with some of his cousins, including Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, during the event.
Kate Middleton and Prince William, along with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, will march in the parade. They will be the first carriage to follow the famous Gold State Coach, which will be driven by King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Meanwhile, Princess Anne will ride behind the Gold State Coach on horseback as the Gold Stick in Waiting.
The coveted role, which Anne has held since 1998, dates back to the 15th century, when two officers — a Gold Stick and a Silver Stick — were assigned to protect the queen from harm.
Harry landed in the United Kingdom on Friday ahead of the coronation via commercial aeroplane. His visit to the United Kingdom, however, is expected to be brief.
According to The Sun, he will be in and out of the country in less than 24 hours for his father's coronation. The coronation day, May 6, also happens to be Prince Archie's 4th birthday, and Harry is reportedly travelling back to celebrate with his son.
"Harry will be in and out of the U.K. in 24 hours," a source told The Sun. "He will only perform the coronation service before departing."
According to the report, Harry will board a plane two hours after the church service on Saturday. The transatlantic journey of about 5,400 miles takes around 11 hours nonstop. With the time difference, he may be back in California by evening with Prince Archie, Princess Lilibet, and wife Meghan Markle.
On April 12, Buckingham Palace stated that Prince Harry will attend King Charles' coronation, but that his wife, Meghan Markle, would not be present. "The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet," the palace announced.
According to a source, Meghan will celebrate Archie's birthday with a small celebration at home.
