Doja Cat is paying tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld in an unusual way: she is dressed like his iconic adored white Burmese cat, Choupette.

The 2023 Met Gala theme is "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," and the accompanying exhibit features around 150 of Lagerfeld's greatest outfits from his prolific six-decade career — designs he created while working for brands such as Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel, and his own eponymous label.

The rapper, 27, on the red carpet in a stunning Oscar de la Renta ensemble that included a figure-fitting hooded robe with cat ears. The backless gown had a mermaid silhouette that stretched into a white feathery train.

She maintained a feline-centric style by using prosthetics to enhance her facial features with a cat-like appearance. To complete the ensemble, she added a diamond headpiece and a diamond arm cuff.

During a red carpet interview with Vogue, Doja Cat expressed her excitement and satisfaction with her distinctive appearance.

She's well-known for making bold statements on the red carpet, as evidenced by her previous appearance at the Schiaparelli Haute Couture fashion show in Paris earlier this year, where she dazzled the audience with a sparkling red crystal outfit.

On the first day of Couture Week, Doja Cat made a grand entrance, adorned with 30,000 Swarovski crystals carefully hand-placed on her skin. Her extravagant outfit included a red silk faille bustier and a hand-knit skirt made of lacquered wooden beads. Completing her look were trompe l'œil toe boots, adding to the over-the-top ensemble.

Celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath and her team brought Doja's vision of "Doja's Inferno" to life. It took them nearly five hours to place each crystal onto the singer's skin, as shared by McGrath on Instagram. Doja's hair was covered in caps, followed by paint applied to her skin, and finally crystals and gold dust were added to her body. She's not only a singer but also a fashion icon, constantly pushing the boundaries of style.

In an Instagram caption, Pat McGrath expressed her pleasure working with Doja Cat and Daniel Roseberry on the "Doja's Inferno" look for Schiaparelli's FW23 Haute Couture collection. The process took nearly five hours, during which Doja demonstrated sublime patience as #TeamPatMcGrath placed over 30,000 Swarovski crystals by hand. The final result was a magical, mesmerizing masterpiece of sparkling brilliance that was truly inspiring.
