From wedding to divorce, Monday’s episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way covered the full spectrum of love and hate.
It was finally time for Mary and Brandan to walk down the aisle, though they weren’t exactly experience wedded bliss. After some serious contemplation and a vow to change, the parents-to-be said “I do” — but they weren’t the only ones making a big life decision.
Yohan and Daniele finalized their split, Kenny and Armando took the first step in their surrogacy journey and Shekinah’s ultimatum to Sarper triggered him to tell her he wouldn’t miss her if she left him.
Here’s how it all went down…
Brandan and Mary
This bride and groom weren’t on speaking terms the morning of their wedding because Mary was questioning Brandan as a husband and a father. Brandan’s mom sat him down for a tough chat as he approached his wedding. “Time to give up the constant playing on video games throughout the day,” she said. “I would really encourage you to be more involved [in] handling the financial situation so she’s not feeling all the pressure to manage it all.”
She added, “I know you have the ability to do this. I have seen you do things for her with her because of her at the age of 23 than any of the men I ever dated all the way up into their 40s. It’s just going to take some effort on your part.”
Brandan took the words to heart, and Mary decided not to let her fears overwhelm her. “I wish that me and Brandan talked and he reassured me, but right now I decide not to think about the fights that we have,” she said in an interview. “Instead, I think about being happy with him. Like how when he hugs me I feel [butterflies] in my stomach and I know that our love is real. So I’m going to marry him.”
And marry they did. Brandan and Mary tied the knot surrounded by her family and friends, as well as Brandan’s mom. “Mary, I I haven’t met anyone that could make me feel the way that you make me feel. And I promise you that you would never have to worry about me abandoning you,” Brandan said in his vows. “I see my future with you. I love you more than anything.”
Mary responded with vows of her own: “I just want you to know that I love you so much. I know that we’re fighting a lot, but I I want to spend my life, my whole life, with you forever.”
When the ceremony was done, the reception include a horde of uninvited guests as beetles swarmed the place and buzzed around attendees’ faces. “I’m looking over, and there’s like this fog rolling in,” Brandan said. “And I realized that’s not a fog. That’s a lot of bugs.”
Holly and Wayne
With Holly still set on moving back to America from South Africa, Wayne sat down with his father to pick his brain on marriage.
“I do feel betrayed because, I mean, I try to make it as safe as possible for her,” he said. “She has food every single night. She has money when she wants to go out. Like, she does not have such a bad life as she thinks she has.”
In an interview, Wayne’s father said, “I have nothing against Holly. She’s a very nice girl, but they’re all married and she’s going to stick to her marriage vows. She can’t just throw the towel in every time she has a bit of a hiccup and go back to her home country and leave Wayne with this decision of losing her.”
Holly said in her own confessional that she was still completely willing to walk away. “I 100 percent love him, but living in South Africa, I feel like I’m losing parts of myself,” she said. “I don’t want to stay somewhere I’m not happy. Life is really short, and I don’t know what to tell him. But I can’t live like this.”
Wayne asked his wife an important question: “Are you willing to live without me?”
“I don’t want to do that,” she responded. “But I don’t know what else to do.”
Hurt, Wayne lashed out at Holly and said he wished they’d never married: “I’m not saying I don’t love you. I’m just saying like, if I knew this is going to happen, I would never have got involved with an American.”
Kenny and Armando
Kenny and Armando took another big step in their baby journey, both giving their sperm samples to be mixed ahead of their attempt to conceive a child via surrogate.
“No matter whose DNA it is, this child is going to be so freaking loved,” Kenny said.
Though they weren’t together for the submission, the pair sexted throughout, with Armando explaining, “What we’re doing today is going to create a baby and even though we were in separate rooms, it’s like we did it together still.”
Despite his initial hesitation to welcome a child at his age, the process made Kenny cautiously optimistic. “I think the future looks really bright for us. But we have a lot coming up with us, moving and now having a baby,” he said.
He continued, “Although I feel really good about this decision, I’ve never felt more pressure probably than ever in my life because of my age, because of our circumstances. How is it going to be raising a child here in this country? There’s going to be some hurdles to jump here, but I know I’m not turning back.”
Shekinah and Sarper
Shekinah and Sarper continued to butt heads over baby-making, with Shekinah decrying Sarper’s “demands” that she either have a child with him or return to the U.S.
“I’m so disappointed. So disappointed. She has to be a little more flexible,” he said in an interview.
Shekinah was furious, asking him, “Is that upsetting you so much that you’re going to now ruin the relationship with your demands? Because you’re not going to have any hope for a future with me if you’re going to demand.”
Sarper questioned Shekinah’s emotions, telling her, “You are on the verge of losing me, and you don’t cry.”
She didn’t hold back. “I’m on the verge of losing a man that is demanding for me to have a child five months into a relationship, and you want me to cry about that? I’m not going to cry about that. I’m relieved that I’m finding this out about you.”
But Sarper had the last word, telling Shekinah he wouldn’t be crying either when and if she walked away from their relationship.
“Do you think that I care?” he asked. “It will take me two days to forget.”
Daniele and Yohan
It was Daniele’s worst Christmas ever when Yohan ended their marriage.
After years of financial struggles and arguments — and one year of trying to fix things — Yohan walked away — decked out in a Santa suit, no less.
“She doesn’t respect me. She doesn’t support me,” he said in an interview. “Truth be told, I’m at the end of my rope. I’ve decided that this relationship is over. It doesn’t work. And after we take the gifts to the kids, I’m out of here. I’m moving out.”
They delivered presents to neighborhood kids, then Yohan packed up and left their shared apartment — but not before arguments about what was rightfully his. Yohan first tried to flee with a bag of Yankees caps. When that didn’t work, he attempted to swipe their dog Gizmo.
In a fit of rage, Daniele ordered everyone — including producers — out of her apartment. She somehow ended up with the dog in hand as she shut the world out.
