Paging the Grey’s Anatomy doctors to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital!
The stars of Shonda Rhimes’ hit medical drama shared highlights on Wednesday as they returned to the ABC studio for the table read of the season 20 premiere following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Earlier in the day, Camilla Luddington, who plays OB-GYN resident Jo Wilson, shared a clip of her heading to the studio, as she zoomed in on a sign featuring the show’s logo and “Table Read” in all capitals with an arrow pointing the way.
OG star James Pickens Jr., aka former Chief of Surgery Richard Webber, reposted the Instagram Story on his account.
Addressing the raindrops on her vehicle’s window, Luddington, 39, said in the next slide: “I’m on my way to the table read for the new season and I don’t know if you guys can see, but it is raining in Los Angeles, which is really crazy.”
“I feel like the weather gods are on our side for Seattle once again,” she joked, alluding to the show’s setting.
The British actress also snapped a pic of her name card with her character’s alias — a signifier that several cast members also posted on their Instagram Stories to mark the start of production.
Reign alum Adelaide Kane (who plays surgical intern Jules Millin) uploaded a photo of her name card behind her lunch plate.
Heading the cardiothoracic department of GSMH as Winston Ndugu, Anthony Hill included the script of the first episode in season 20 in his post along with his name card and a clock emoji at the bottom.
Midori Francis, meanwhile, shared an endearing photo with some the interns and residents hanging out together.
Francis (Mika Yusada), Jake Borelli (Levi Schmidtt), Jaicy Elliot (Taryn Helm), Alexis Floyd (Simone Griffith), Niko Terho (Luca Adams), Harry Shum Jr. (Benson Kwan) and Hill were all smiles as they sat around a table to enjoy each other’s company along with some coffee.
Also set to return for the upcoming installment of Grey’s is Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, Kevin McKidd as Owen Hunt, Kim Raver as Teddy Altman and Caterina Scorsone as Amelia Shepherd.
The celebration of the season 20 premiere table read comes after the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike ended on Nov. 9.
The union reached a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) after the actors were on strike all summer for better compensation and benefit plans given the complications resulting from the rise of streaming services’ model contributing to a decline in wages and residuals. They were also looking for protections against the impact of artificial intelligence on their work.
A release date for season 20 of Grey’s Anatomy has not yet been announced by ABC. In May, ABC shared that timing for renewals of their scripted series “will be announced at a later date,” with the network restructuring the fall 2023 primetime lineup due to the writer’s strike.
Grey’s Anatomy is available to stream on Netflix and Hulu.
