The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City stars Whitney Rose and Angie Katsenevas love keeping holiday family traditions, but recognize they need to evolve as their children become older.
Rose, who shares daughter Bobbi, 13 and son Brooks, 10 with husband Justin Rose, says “just spending the time together” is the most important thing.
“Right now they’re at ages where we read a Christmas story, a different book, every night starting December 1,” Rose told at the recent DIRECTV Celebrates Christmas at Kathy Hilton’s event. “I know that’s not going to be realistic forever.”

“[There’s] dinner, getting together, gathering and skiing,” the Bravo personality added. “We ski every Christmas Eve. It’s one of our favorite traditions.”
One thing Rose hopes to do is move away from giving physical possessions.
“I’m trying to move my kids more into experiences versus gifts. We’re trying to get away from things and build memories,” she explained.
Cast mate Angie Katsanevas, who has a 12-year-old daughter named Elektra with husband Shawn Trujillo, hopes to instill a similar lesson.
“We choose a family every year that we help, so my daughter learns more about giving during the holidays,” Katsanevas said. “It’s not all about receiving, so she realizes how lucky she is and that there are those less fortunate.”
As for family traditions, the reality star — who hosts Real Housewives events at her home — throws an annual party with a special guest.
“My family is huge so we have a sit-down dinner with tons of food. And then we have a second party where we invite Santa and friends. It’s something we do every year,” Katsanevas added.
Rose is an original cast member on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, which is currently airing its fourth season on Bravo. Katsanevas was promoted to full-time housewife status this season after serving as a “friend of” in season three.
