Kody Brown sees a brighter future for Christine Brown in monogamy.
The Brown family patriarch seemingly gave his backhanded blessing to Christine’s new marriage during the Sister Wives: One on One episode Sunday night. The segment was filmed before Christine tied the knot with David Woolley in October. In context, Kody alleged that Christine never attempted to bond with his last of four wives, Robyn Brown.
“She was a s — — sister wife,” he said, also claiming Christine “never tried” and “was never there.”
He reflected on her newfound interest in having just one partner. “She’ll probably, and I hope, be a very good wife for David.”
On next week’s episode, Christine will introduce Woolley to the Sister Wives audience for the first time. Though he’s been present on her Instagram for some time, Christine appeared giddy at the idea of the “love of my life” appearing on screen.
For Kody, Woolley’s presence comes with remembrance of why Christine decided to leave the plural marriage (a decision poised like dominos, eventually seeing Janelle and Meri Brown step away from the TLC family, too.)
Christine reflected on her marriage to Kody throughout the ongoing One on One conversation — not all of it joyful.
“Christine has to destroy my character,” Kody said. “Or David doesn’t feel like he can marry her because she left a good man.”
David did marry Christine in a “sexy, elegant” Utah wedding earlier this year.
“It’s a fairytale,” Christine told at the time. “It’s everything I never thought I would have. I get to walk down the aisle to David, him just looking at me the way that he does, it’s a dream come true.”
Other teases for next week’s episode of Sister Wives: One on One included Christine saying she’s “dissected my relationship with Robyn.” “Her personality type loves drama,” she said.
In return, Robyn cried: “I don’t know how to let this go. And this isn’t me just being dramatic, thank you, Christine.”
Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
