Dolores Catania and Margaret Josephs are advocating for people to feel less ashamed about their decision to use weight loss injections.
During a recent episode of Sherri Shepherd's talk show, the stars of The Real Housewives of New Jersey discussed their use of Ozempic, an FDA-approved medication primarily prescribed for type 2 diabetes but increasingly used for weight loss. Ozempic, also known as semaglutide or Wegovy, works in the brain to regulate satiety and has gained popularity for weight loss over the past year, both within and outside of Hollywood.
Sherri Shepherd, 57, noted that many celebrities remain quiet about their use of such medications.
Catania, 53, emphasized that there should be no shame associated with using these medications if prescribed by a doctor and used responsibly. She highlighted the positive health benefits that come with weight loss and emphasized that using these medications can contribute to overall wellness.
"This is my high school weight. I’m not parting with it and I’m gonna be honest because it’s right," she added.
Meanwhile, Josephs, 57, said she started taking Ozempic because she was struggling with her weight after reaching menopause.
“After menopause, it’s so hard to lose weight. And then you’re shamed for it if you’re heavy,” she explained.
“It shuts off that food noise, my blood work is great,” she boasted. “[Before Ozempic] I couldn’t do anything. It doesn’t matter if I was eating right or exercising so I don’t know why there’s any shame in it if it’s helpful to people.”
Catania emphasized the responsibility they have as co-stars on their Bravo show to be honest with their audience. Josephs chimed in, stating that nobody should watch their weight loss journey on television and feel inadequate.
“This is not natural,” Josephs said of her appearance. “It takes a village. No one wakes up like this, and no one on social media wakes up like that.”
Shepherd expressed her admiration for how transparent the duo is with their fans.
The Quran - Chapter Al-Ahqaf : 15 - 16
We have commanded people to honour their parents. Their mothers bore them in hardship and delivered them in hardship. Their ˹period of˺ bearing and weaning is thirty months. In time, when the child reaches their prime at the age of forty, they pray, “My Lord! Inspire me to ˹always˺ be thankful for Your favours which You blessed me and my parents with, and to do good deeds that please You. And instil righteousness in my offspring. I truly repent to You, and I truly submit ˹to Your Will˺.”
It is from these ˹people˺ that We will accept the good they did, and overlook their misdeeds—along with the residents of Paradise, ˹in fulfilment of˺ the true promise they have been given.
Human procreation takes place through a father and a mother who nurture their offspring through infancy to adulthood.
This is, so to say, the natural system of man’s training, which ensures that he develops a keen consciousness of his duties towards human beings along with the feeling that he must acknowledge the grace of his Benefactor and discharge his duties towards Him.
This feeling teaches a man two things: firstly, to honour his pledges towards other men and, secondly, to fulfill important obligations to God, the Creator and Lord.
Those who learn a lesson from Nature, the great teacher, who activate their sense of moral awareness to the extent that they properly identify and appropriately fulfill their duties towards all, ranging from their parents right up to God, are the ones who will be treated as deserving of the eternal Grace of God in the Hereafter.
