Sara Evans Talks Struggle with an Eating Disorder, Body Dysmorphia 'That's Not Normal'

During an episode of Cheryl Burke's Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans podcast on April 28, Sara Evans bravely opened up about her battle with an eating disorder. In response to Burke's question about handling public opinions that often accompany fame, the 53-year-old country star confessed that such judgments, particularly about her body, deeply affect her.

Acknowledging her struggle, Evans revealed, "I have an eating disorder. I'm more scared of being fat than anything in the world, and that's not good. That's not normal." Additionally, she disclosed her ongoing battle with body dysmorphia, a mental health disorder characterized by obsessive thoughts about perceived flaws in appearance.

Reflecting on her experiences, Sara Evans shared how her record label's pressure to lose weight after each pregnancy deeply affected her. "Every time I had a baby, they would be like, 'When's she gonna lose weight?'" she recounted, highlighting the harmful impact of such comments on her self-image.

Admitting her tendency to seek validation from others, Evans explained, "I'm a people pleaser... I want to feel loved no matter what." She also revealed the hurt caused by online comments about her appearance, including one questioning changes in her face. Despite feeling tempted to respond defensively, Evans emphasized her commitment to authenticity, stating, "I haven't done anything to my face. I've had Botox… You wanna know what happened to my face? I'm 52."

Sara Evans has openly shared her mental health journey, recalling her struggles with anxiety, PTSD, and claustrophobia stemming from a childhood accident. Reflecting on her experiences in September 2020, Evans recounted the lack of recognition and support for her condition during the '80s.

Despite facing severe PTSD and anxiety, Evans persevered without therapy, believing she could handle it alone due to her resilience. Throughout the years, she faced moments of extreme anxiety and trauma-triggered PTSD episodes, leading to bouts of depression.

However, Evans credited anti-anxiety medication for providing relief and offering hope for the future, emphasizing the importance of mental health support. She remains grateful for each moment of her life, encouraging others to seek help if needed through resources like NationalEatingDisorders.org and the Crisis Text Line.

The Quran - Chapter Al-Ahqaf : 33 - 34

Do they not realize that Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth and did not tire in creating them, is able to give life to the dead? Yes ˹indeed˺! He is certainly Most Capable of everything.

And on the Day the disbelievers will be exposed to the Fire, ˹they will be asked,˺ “Is this ˹Hereafter˺ not the truth?” They will cry, “Absolutely, by our Lord!” It will be said, “Then taste the punishment for your disbelief.”

The coming into existence of the gigantic universe consisting of the heavens and the earth and then its functioning for millions of years in perfect harmony and with total precision proves that the Creator of this universe is the possessor of immense powers.

Moreover, bringing the universe into existence did not exhaust His resources. Had the work of creation been fatiguing for Him, the universe after creation would not have been found running with such great exactitude.

The immense power of God being demonstrated throughout the universe suffices for us to be certain that the resurrection of human beings and the taking stock of their deeds is not at all difficult for Him.

In the present world reality comes before a man, but he does not accept it. This is because the result of the denial of reality is not immediately obvious.

In the Hereafter, the terrible consequences will be there before every man; he will then become extremely serious and will readily accept the reality which he was not prepared to accept in the present world. However, acceptance of truth at that time will be of no avail.
