Selena Gomez is making strides in raising awareness about mental health. On Wednesday, May 1, the 31-year-old star of "Only Murders in the Building" hosted a special event where she provided resources for issues that are important to her.

Gomez shared her thoughts on the event on Instagram, captioning a carousel of photos with: "Our 3rd annual @rarebeauty Mental Health Summit has me leaving inspired by the next generation, filled with so much hope, and grateful to each of you for being on this meaningful journey with us."

In the first photo, Gomez stood before a wall decorated with facts about the organization, including a post noting that $7 million was raised for the company in 2023 alone.

“Mental health means so much to me and I’m honored we get to share this mission with the world together. Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to use their voice for good! ♥️♥️,” her caption continued.

Other images showed Gomez speaking with U.S. Surgeon General Vice Admiral Vivek Murthy, who also shared a social media recap of the event.

“Honored to join my friend @SelenaGomez for @rarebeauty’s Mental Health Summit,” he wrote.

According to Murthy, the two “discussed the power of social connection and how communities, like the one Selena has created with Rare Beauty and the Rare Impact Fund, are paving the way for self-acceptance, support, and healing.”

Gomez’s boyfriend, Benny Blanco, also showed his support for Gomez in her comment section. The couple confirmed their relationship in December 2023.

“I'm so proud of u bb,” the producer and songwriter, 36, wrote before adding a second message. “u inspire me 😍.”

In October 2023, the “Love On” singer hosted her first annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit at Nya Studios in Hollywood to raise money for youth mental health organizations.

During the event, she gave a speech before attendees and revealed that getting involved “stemmed from some of the darkest moments in my life.”

“I struggled with the world inside my head for a long time and I felt lost and I felt hopeless at times. And in 2020, I received my diagnosis of bipolar disorder. And to be honest, everything quickly changed,” Gomez said.

“I actually got the knowledge and the answers that I had been desperate for for so long. And understanding that obviously makes me become more aware of it and I'm less afraid than I used to be.”

Before her emotional speech ended, the Disney alum added that launching her mental health fund is “probably the most important thing that I've ever done.”

Her 2022 documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me also takes a deep dive into her mental health triumphs and setbacks.

The Quran - Chapter Al-Ahqaf : 35

So endure patiently, as did the Messengers of Firm Resolve. And do not ˹seek to˺ hasten ˹the torment˺ for the deniers. On the Day they see what they have been threatened with, it will be as if they had only stayed ˹in this world˺ for an hour of a day. ˹This is˺ a ˹sufficient˺ warning! Then, will anyone be destroyed except the rebellious people?

A preacher who calls for the acceptance of Truth has always to stand on the firm ground of patience.

Patience in fact consists of unilaterally ignoring the tortures inflicted by his addressees. He should continuously exhort his addressees to enter his fold, in spite of their obduracy and their adamant rejection of his plea.

He should always and in all cases be their well-wisher, regardless of the unpleasant experiences he has had on their account.

This unilateral patience is necessary because, without this, God’s plan for the addressees would remain unfulfilled.

All God’s messengers and prophets of every period have performed the task of giving the call of Truth in a similar manner, with patience and perseverance.

In future also those who perform this task as deputies of the prophets shall have to do it on the same pattern.

In the eyes of God only those will be adjudged true preachers (da‘is), who can unilaterally show the capacity for tolerance.
