Country singer Jana Kramer shared on her 'Whine Down' podcast that her three children came down with COVID-19 and croup just days before her wedding to Allan Russell on July 13.

Jana Kramer and her new husband, Allan Russell, reflected on their Scottish wedding, discussing both the highs and the lows.

On the July 29 episode of her podcast, Kramer, 40, was joined by Russell, 43. She revealed that their children and parents likely contracted COVID-19 shortly before their wedding. Kramer and Russell have a 4-month-old son, Roman James. Kramer also has two children, Jace Joseph, 5, and Jolie Rae, 8, from her previous marriage to Mike Caussin.

Kramer expressed her desire for everything to be perfect when she and the Scottish soccer player exchanged vows on July 13 at Carnell Estate. One of her main concerns was the possibility of guests falling ill.

Problems began when Russell’s father, who had a noticeable cough, picked them up from the airport. Kramer recounted that there were many people coughing on the flight to Glasgow, but Russell’s father was particularly unwell, coughing persistently in a small, poorly ventilated car.

“I kept telling myself, ‘It’s fine, everything’s fine.’ Then your dad mentioned having a fever the next day,” she told Russell. “The following day, I heard Jolie coughing and thought, ‘Oh no, here we go.’ Soon enough, all three kids had high fevers.”

Kramer confirmed that the children had both croup and COVID-19. Her parents, Martin and Nora, also tested positive after being around the children. “So I’m pretty sure it was COVID,” she concluded.

“It was tough because the kids were sick,” Kramer admitted, though she still wanted them to create wonderful memories.

Russell added, “There wasn’t much we could do differently. They just weren’t feeling their best.”

“I know, and that broke my heart,” Kramer responded. “But we still took them out because they wanted to go.” She mentioned that the children didn’t go to Edinburgh because it would have been too much for them.

The children’s fevers spiked on July 10 and 11, making the situation “so stressful,” Kramer recalled. She regretted not having extra help during that time, as it was just the two of them managing everything.

Kramer admitted she felt anxious, worrying about getting sick before the wedding and the honeymoon. “I became an insomniac for the rest of the trip, waking up with anxiety and in a pool of sweat,” she said.

“That was the part that made me feel bad for the kids. They weren’t feeling well,” she added. “But in hindsight, they remember the castles and the fun, not the sickness.”
