TLC recently announced the cancellation of several shows due to Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins' unexpected medical situation.
On Saturday, August 24, the group posted a message on their Instagram Stories, explaining that after a performance in Toledo, Ohio, on Thursday, August 22, Watkins, 54, experienced sudden and severe symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, and intense abdominal pain.
Watkins was promptly seen by a doctor, who diagnosed her with an "abdominal blockage." Following medical advice, she was forced to cancel TLC's upcoming performances at the New York State Fair in Syracuse, New York, on Friday, August 23, and at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, on Saturday, August 24.
In the statement, TLC shared that Watkins was expected to be released from the hospital on Sunday, August 25.
"Tionne deeply regrets having to cancel these shows and extends her sincere apologies to all her fans and the event promoters," the group stated. "The decision to cancel was made following her physician's recommendation, who advised her to stay in the hospital overnight for a CT scan to assess the severity of her condition."
TLC reassured fans that the canceled shows will be rescheduled at a later date. "We are committed to rescheduling the canceled shows and sincerely apologize to all the fans, especially those who traveled long distances to attend. We appreciate your understanding and support," the statement concluded.
This latest health issue comes just three months after TLC had to cancel several Canadian tour dates in May due to Watkins and some crew members contracting the flu.
"We deeply regret to inform you that we must cancel the upcoming date. Unfortunately, a few members of our tour, including T-Boz, have fallen ill with the flu. As a result, she has lost her voice. Doctors have advised her not to perform this week," TLC said at the time.
Despite these setbacks, the "Unpretty" singers made their return to the stage in June with a performance in Lincoln, California.
Watkins and her bandmate Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas, 53, were honored in April at the 2024 iHeartRadio Awards in Los Angeles, where TLC received the Landmark Award. The group, originally a trio, included the late rapper Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, who tragically passed away in a car accident in 2002 at the age of 30.
