Madonna recently reflected on her recovery from a serious bacterial infection, sharing her gratitude on Instagram, one year after her hospitalization.
In late June 2023, her talent manager and producer Guy Oseary announced on Instagram that the 65-year-old pop star was in the ICU due to a severe bacterial infection. He assured fans that while she was still under medical care, her health was improving and a full recovery was expected.
Indeed, Madonna made a full recovery. On July 5, 2024, the "Material Girl" singer expressed her thankfulness for her "miraculous" recuperation from the health scare in an Instagram post. "A year ago today, I had just come home from the hospital after surviving a life-threatening illness," she wrote. "I could barely stand in my backyard holding one sparkler. I made a miraculous recovery and had an amazing year."
She concluded her heartfelt message with, "Thank you, God. Life is beautiful! ♥️🧨🔥," and added, "Happy 4th of July!"
Her Instagram post included a series of photos from her Independence Day celebration at New York City's The Standard, High Line, with friends like photographer Steven Meisel, Luar designer Raul Lopez, and singer and collaborator Arca.
Madonna first addressed her hospitalization on Instagram on July 10, 2023, just five days before she was set to begin her highly anticipated Celebration World Tour, which was subsequently rescheduled. In the post, the "Vogue" artist thanked fans for their "positive energy, prayers, and words of healing and encouragement" as she shared details of her health scare.
"I have felt your love. I'm on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life," she wrote. "My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn't want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone."
She added, "My focus now is my health and getting stronger, and I assure you, I'll be back with you as soon as I can! The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin the tour in Europe. I couldn't be more grateful for your care and support. Love, M."
During a December show in Brooklyn, N.Y., on her world tour, Madonna again spoke about her illness, revealing she had been in "an induced coma for 48 hours" earlier that year. She acknowledged important people who were with her at the hospital, including a friend who took her there. "I don't even remember; I passed out on my bathroom floor and woke up in the ICU ... She saved my life," she told the audience.
Nearly three months before that concert, a source told that the superstar was feeling positive about starting her tour after her health scare. "She returned to rehearsals last Monday," they said. "She's so happy to be back onstage and is feeling strong."
The insider added, "She's working closely with her longtime collaborators, Jamie King and Stuart Price, to put the final touches on the show," noting that this tour is the icon's "most ambitious tour ever."
The Quran - Chapter Al-Hadid : 25
Indeed, We sent Our messengers with clear proofs, and with them We sent down the Scripture and the balance ˹of justice˺ so that people may administer justice. And We sent down iron with its great might, benefits for humanity, and means for Allah to prove who ˹is willing to˺ stand up for Him and His messengers without seeing Him. Surely Allah is All-Powerful, Almighty.
