Monday night's Married At First Sight UK saw drama brewing as Whitney Hughes and Matt Murray confessed to finding each other attractive - amid the claims the pair cheated on their partners on the show.
In awkward scenes at the couples' retreat, the girls and boys were asked which of the other newlyweds they were most attracted to, with the duo both admitting that they had eyes for the other - much to the chagrin of their partners Gemma Rose and Duka Cav.
And the end of the episode saw Whitney and Matt seal the deal as they locked lips in a sizzling teaser for Tuesday's show - confirming that the pair will indeed stray from the respective marriages.
As the wives and husbands sat separately to discuss their relationships, they were asked several questions, with many answers raising several eyebrows among the newlyweds.
None more so than when the girls were asked which of the husband's they found the sexiest, with Whitney wasting no time in saying Matt's name.
The beauty, who is unhappily married to Duka said: 'He's a good looking boy... and like as a friend I can see that he is a good person.'
He response didn't go down well with Matt's wife Gemma, who said of Whitney's admission: 'Hearing Whitney the delivery was quite harsh and it was intended to make me react. It was horrible, it made me feel so irrelevant.'
It appeared that the feeling was mutual for tattooed hunk Matt, who told boldly told the boys that he'd happily couple up with Whitney should he have the 'stick or twist' option of being with someone new.
In front of Whitney's husband Duka, he said: 'Wedding day (to Gemma) was absolutely bang on... from then on out it's been a sack of s*** - so I'd like to twist please.
'If I had to choose somebody different in here to go through that process again with I'd probably say Whitney. We've crossed paths, there's been a nice vibe. She's a beautiful girl...there's an element of something there.'
Later in the episode, the pair got close as they shared a heart-to-heart about their troubled romances, with Whitney confessing he was 'cute', while Matt dropped some hints as he said 'I’m upstairs and in my own company quite a lot of the time at the minute.'
They also ended their conversation with a hug, with Matt telling the camera: 'Spending time around her, there’s definitely a vibe'.
Gemma later shared her worries about the pair's closeness in a conversation with Thomas and Adrian, admitting that she didn't like Whitney's comments about Matt and confessed she hoped her gut instinct about them was wrong.
However, she's set for heartbreak and disappointment as a teaser for the upcoming episode saw the two leaning in for a passionate kiss as they stood on a bridge together.
While things are set to kick off at a dinner party with the couples as Matt and Gemma get into a ferocious screaming match.
It comes after Matt claimed he didn't cheat on his wife Gemma Rose during the show, despite spending the night with co-star Whitney Hughes during the couples' retreat week.
Insisting that he and his wife had 'not been together for seven days' at the time of his new romance, the barber, 32, recently took to Instagram to offer his point of view on the situation, firmly explaining there was 'no betrayal.'
Chatting to his 32.3K followers, Matt firmly explained 'There was no cheating, there was no betrayal. Me and Gemma had not been together for seven days, and we'd been apart more than we'd ever been together.
'Which is a bit s****y because it kind of ruins the series a bit, doesn't it? But yeah, we weren't even talking. Specifically after the episodes this week - so before we go to the getaway, I had specifically asked production to go home.
'I didn't want to be here anymore and I had bigger things to deal with back at home than me trying to make something work and I was asked to stay until the next commitment ceremony, otherwise it wouldn't make sense to the audience,' he concluded.
But despite Matt's denial in branding the incident 'cheating', a TV insider told MailOnline that his wife Gemma 'broke down in tears' during the retreat.
The insider explained: 'Whitney and Matt truly shocked the other members of the cast by cheating on their partners – not only because of the hurt it caused but the circumstances too.
'The pairs had gone away to a couples retreat and were there to focus on their relationships, but Whitney and Matt had other ideas.
'Gemma, who thought she had met the love of her life in Matt, was devastated, while Duka had put his all into giving his marriage with Whitney a chance.'
MailOnline has contacted E4 for comment.
Matt and Gemma got off to an electric start upon their first meet, with an instant attraction and connection on their wedding day.
But things quickly took a turn as the latter's sexual advances and descriptive remarks pushed Matt away - as he branded the behaviour 'too much'.
And following an icy honeymoon, during which Matt accused his wife of 'pleasuring herself at a restaurant dinner table', this week's episodes saw the pair hit even more obstacles as they struggled to move past their differences.
Whitney and her husband Duka married in the show's first episode, but their relationship was doomed from the start.
Personal assistant Whitney was on the hunt for a 'massive brick house of a man' but described her husband Duka as a 'shed.'
She was met by criticism from viewers after she failed to give Duka a chance, even confessing at the altar that she was tempted to 'run.'
The show sees a panel of 'dating experts' pair singletons together based on values, personality, looks and lifestyle - with the new couples only meeting for the first time at the alter.
The couples must then live life as a married couple, fast-tracking the dating process into a relationship as they navigate getting to know one another and being a married couple.
