My 600-Lb. Life Production Crew Breaks 'Cardinal Rule' to Assist After Road Mishap

My 600-Lb. Life production crew broke a "cardinal rule" during filming.

TLC released a teaser clip of Wednesday night's new episode that showed crew members jumping in front of the camera after weight loss patient Delana's car breaks down on the way to see Houston-based bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan AKA Dr. Now.

"So today, we're heading to Houston because I made myself an appointment to meet with Dr. Now. And that's just in a couple of days. For the last month, since my horrible fall outside my house, I've been trying to jumpstart my own weight loss, and I'm pretty sure it's been working since I feel better already," Delana says in a voiceover at the start of the clip.

That ˹reward˺ is the good news which Allah gives to His servants who believe and do good. Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “I do not ask you for a reward for this ˹message˺—only honour for ˹our˺ kinship.”1 Whoever earns a good deed, We will increase it in goodness for them. Surely Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Appreciative.

The clip begins with Delana sitting on a rolling chair as she pushes herself to the entrance of her home. After getting outside, she used a walker to get closer to the gray van she would be traveling in.

"I feel great about the trip. I mean, I'm still nervous and scared about it. [I] haven't been on a road trip in a very long time. I'm excited, extremely excited, because I'm going to see Dr. Now, which has been a long time coming," continues Delana.

After struggling to get inside, she says the trip is "a little daunting" because she and a male companion named James are set to drive for seven hours one day and go through a "six-and-a-half, seven-hour drive" the following day.

Delana adds that she has no concerns about arriving at her appointment on time because their car has been running "perfectly fine."

After Delana says she's "ready" for the appointment, things take a turn for the worse when a black screen appears saying the van "broke down 50 miles into the trip."

James says, "All those lights are back on again," and Delana responds, "We are sticking in the f---ing road."

Four crew members are then seen pushing the van to the side of the busy highway. A black screen appears again, reading, "The camera crew broke their own rule of never intervening to push James and Delana to safety."

When Delana asks James if the van overheated, he says, "It just stopped," and that it is "the same problem we just fixed." TLC shared the clip on Instagram writing, "A mishap on the road has the #My600lbLife crew breaking their cardinal rule 😱 Don't miss a new episode Wednesday at 8/7c."

An episode synopsis also explains the significance of Delana's trip.

"When a regular trip to the grocery store turns into an emergency for the EMTs, Delana must admit how badly she needs Dr. Now's help to lose weight. Hopefully her road to recovery will lead her to reconcile with the daughter she's grown apart from," the synopsis reads.

My 600-Lb. Life airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on TLC.
