Kourtney, Khloé, and Kim Kardashian are dedicated to preserving the memory of their late father, Robert Kardashian Sr.
On Monday, April 15, the sisters attended an event commemorating the fifth anniversary of the UCLA Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health, established in 2019 in honor of Robert Sr., who passed away from esophageal cancer in 2003.
During the anniversary celebration at Lulu Restaurant in the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, Kim, aged 43, spoke about the significance of the center and expressed gratitude towards Dr. Eric Esrailian, a close family friend and pivotal figure associated with the center.
Kim, the founder of SKIMS, acknowledged Esrailian, a health sciences clinical professor of medicine at UCLA, as one of the first individuals they consulted to explore ways to honor her father in a meaningful manner.
Kim Kardashian shared how the UCLA Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health has had a profound impact on her life beyond its connection to her father's legacy.
"I have friends that I have referred to the Robert G. Kardashian Center, and it has saved their lives," she revealed. "It makes me proud to hear them be so grateful that they found a place that was dedicated to the one thing that would help them."
Kim expressed her satisfaction in contributing to the conversation surrounding esophageal health and raising awareness about the importance of it. She emphasized her admiration for healthcare professionals, describing nursing and doctoring as the toughest jobs and expressing gratitude to Dr. Eric Esrailian for his role in making the center a reality.
Dr. Eric Esrailian, speaking at the event, expressed his immense pride in the achievements and advancements of the UCLA Robert G. Kardashian Center for Esophageal Health.
According to UCLA Health, Dr. Esrailian highlighted some of the center's notable achievements, including providing exceptional care for benign esophageal conditions like acid reflux and swallowing disorders.
Dr. Jane Yanagawa, an associate professor of thoracic surgery and the surgical director of the center, shared a recent success story during the event.
"We recently heard from a patient who was treated by many of the clinicians present tonight," Dr. Yanagawa stated. "She underwent a complex surgery, and her journey is truly a testament to the power of comprehensive care. As of today, not only can she eat and drink, but she's cycling 150 miles a week and preparing to run in the Boston Marathon."
These anecdotes underscore the center's dedication to providing holistic care and the positive impact it has had on patients' lives.
In 2019, Kim Kardashian, along with her sisters Kourtney and Khloé, their mother Kris Jenner, and sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, announced the establishment of the Kardashian Center. Kim expressed her family's pride in honoring their father by creating the center.
"We are proud to pay tribute to our father through this endeavor," Kim stated. "We hope to save lives and contribute to the community for many years to come in honor of our father."
Their collective goal was to establish a lasting legacy that would positively impact the lives of others, reflecting their father's memory and values.
The Quran - Chapter Al-Jathiyah : 03 - 06
Surely in ˹the creation of˺ the heavens and the earth are signs for the believers.
And in your own creation, and whatever living beings He dispersed, are signs for people of sure faith.
And ˹in˺ the alternation of the day and the night, the provision sent down from the skies by Allah—reviving the earth after its death—and the shifting of the winds, are signs for people of understanding.
These are Allah’s revelations which We recite to you ˹O Prophet˺ in truth. So what message will they believe in after ˹denying˺ Allah and His revelations?
إِنَّ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ لَآيَاتٍ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ("Surely in the heavens and the earth, there are signs for those who have faith.. ..45:3) "
The purpose of this verse, and similar other verses, is to affirm the Oneness of Allah. Similar verses are available in [ 2:164] إِنَّ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ("Surely, in the creation of heavens and earth..." ) where their detailed commentary will be found.
How the two verses prove the Oneness of Allah is also explained on that occasion. In the two places, there is a slight difference in the argumentation:
Scholars interested might find the finer points of the difference discussed by Imam Razi in his Tafsir Kabir rather interesting.
It is worth noting that in all these verses reference is made to the various signs in nature and a concluding statement is made on each occasion:
Here it concludes: ` there are signs for those who have faith', in another place it concludes: ` there are signs for those who believe' and in a third place it concludes: ` there are signs for those who understand'. In all these cases, there are stylistic variations, but in addition the current verse points to the fact that only those people will be able to benefit who have faith.
In the second case, it will be beneficial to those people who might not immediately embrace the Faith, but they do develop certainty in their hearts, in that these signs do point to the Oneness of Allah. Possibly this certainty one day or the other will turn into ` Faith'.
In the third case, it could benefit those who may not be immediate believers or firm in belief, but they do have sound heart to understand.
If they search into the signs with deep insight, they will inevitably end up with faith and firm belief.
However, people devoid of sound intellect or unwilling to use it will remain unconvinced, even if thousands of evidence or arguments are put forward to them.
