Hayley Erbert Returns to Dance Floor After Brain Surgery

With great success, Hayley Erbert Hough has returned to the stage.

Only five months after being sent to the hospital and having an emergency craniectomy due to a cerebral hematoma, 29-year-old Hayley and her husband, Derek Hough, concluded their Symphony of Dance tour in San Diego, California, on May 19.

Four days later, she thanked God for "one of the most fulfilling moments" of her life on Instagram as she posted highlights of her comeback to the stage.

Only a few days have passed since the Symphony of Dance tour ended, and Hayley stated, "I still have not fully found the words to explain my emotions."

“When we kicked it off in September, I was on cloud nine; getting to travel and perform with my newlywed husband, doing the most challenging show I have ever done in my entire life.”

She added, “Then December 6th rolled around, and everything came to a screeching halt.”

Despite her uncertainty about resuming the tour so soon after her health scare, she proudly stated, “I DID IT!”

“This tour reignited many parts of me that have been dim for so long. I cannot thank everyone who came out to support us on this wild journey enough. I am so grateful to still be here, with you all, doing what I love,” Hayley concluded. “Thank you, thank you, thank you 🫶.”

On December 7, 2023, Derek, 35, revealed on Instagram that Hayley had been rushed to the hospital after experiencing symptoms of a cranial hematoma — when blood collects in the skull — while on tour. He provided another update a week later, this time stating that Hayley required a skull implant to replace the part that had been taken during the craniectomy.

In an emotional Instagram video they shared following the surgery, the couple—who married in 2023—talked about Hayley's "miraculous" recovery and thanked everyone for their support.

"I sincerely appreciate all of your messages, love, vigor, kindness, and prayers. It means so much to me and our family, so thank you all for everything. And genuinely, I believe it’s what’s gotten me through this a little bit faster and it’s what helped me heal,” Hayley said, visibly moved.

In April, the couple announced that the Symphony of Dance tour would resume in Melbourne, Florida, with Hayley rejoining the tour just four months after her surgery. Derek explained that they had “extensive conversations and tests and results from different doctors” to ensure Hayley was cleared to perform.

“I am just so excited to get back out and dance again after having something so traumatic happen,” Hayley told.

The Quran - Chapter An-Najm : 19 - 21

Now, have you considered ˹the idols of˺ Lât and ’Uzza,

and the third one, Manât, as well?

Do you ˹prefer to˺ have sons while ˹you attribute˺ to Him daughters?

The preceding verses declared the Glory of Allah, His Majesty and Dignity. They further confirmed and verified in the fullest details the Prophet-hood and messenger-ship of Muhammad ﷺ ، and the preservation of his revelation.

The present two verses imply a subtle rebuke to the Makkah pagans. The purport of the verses is to say to them that without any proof, instead of adoring such a Mighty and Powerful Creator and Lord, they stoop so low as to worship gods made of wood and stone.

They allege that the angels are the daughters of God. According to other narratives, they also alleged that these idols are the daughters of God.

Pagans of Arabia had countless idols that they worshipped. However, there were three of them that were most popular, and they were worshipped by strong and powerful tribes of Arabia.

The three idols were Lat, ` Uzza and Manat. Lat was the idol of the tribe of Thaqif or of the residents of Ta'if , ` Uzza was the idol of Quraish, and Manat was the idol of Banu Hilal.

They built houses for their idols to resemble the Ka'bah. After the conquest of Makkah, the Holy Prophet ﷺ demolished them. (Qurtubi)
