The Kardashians show no signs of slowing down. Amidst expanding families, new career ventures, and the hustle of managing 13 kids and grandkids, the world's most famous family has had quite a packed year. And now, they're ready to peel back the curtain and share the behind-the-scenes chaos with their fans.
In the debut trailer for season 5 of The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian reflects on their intentions to take a step back and prioritize being present in the moment. However, it seems like sticking to that commitment might be easier said than done.
As the trailer kicks off, Khloé Kardashian poses a rhetorical question: "Have the Kardashians slowed down?" The answer, delivered in a confessional, is a resounding "No."
While the sisters jet off to various Fashion Week events around the globe, basking in the camaraderie of sisterhood as Kendall Jenner highlights, there's also a glimpse into the less glamorous aspects of their lives.
Khloé, at 39, opts to remain home while the rest of the family gallivants overseas. The reason? Kourtney Kardashian Barker is on the brink of welcoming her first child with husband Travis Barker. With Kourtney heavily pregnant and anticipating the arrival of their son, Rocky, born in November, Khloé feels compelled to hold down the fort.
"Somebody needs to be here – especially for all the kids," she asserts, underscoring the importance of familial support and responsibility amidst their whirlwind lifestyles.
As Kourtney, 45, and Travis, 48, approach their due date, the Poosh founder faces a harrowing ordeal: emergency fetal surgery. Reflecting on the experience in the trailer, she recounts, "I had to go in for fetal surgery, which was terrifying."
The gravity of the situation isn't lost on Kris Jenner, who expresses her concern for her oldest daughter, emphasizing, "This is really crazy, I just want Kourtney to be okay." Kourtney describes her pregnancy as "the best blessing in the world" but acknowledges its high-risk nature.
While Khloé and Kris grapple with worries about Kourtney's well-being, Kourtney herself is also focused on her sister's recent separation from Tristan Thompson. With Khloé navigating life post-breakup, Kourtney wonders aloud about her sister's prospects for enjoying newfound freedom. She even broaches the sensitive topic of Khloé's romantic life, bluntly asking, "Are you having sex?"
Khloé is taken aback by the directness of the inquiry, leaving her momentarily speechless. In the face of her sister's silence, Kourtney acknowledges, "I wouldn’t think so, to be honest."
Amidst the upheaval surrounding Kourtney's pregnancy, the family's matriarch, Kris Jenner, receives distressing news regarding her health.
During a dinner gathering with her boyfriend, Corey Gamble, and daughters, Kris reveals the unsettling results of her recent scan. With tears in her eyes, she discloses, "They found a cyst and a little tumor." The somber moment is met with palpable concern, as Khloé is shown visibly worried.
In a subsequent scene, Kendall, 28, provides solace to her younger sister, Kylie Jenner, who is overcome with emotion, breaking down in tears.
Meanwhile, Kim is actively broadening her career horizons, delving into her first major television role in "American Horror Story: Delicate," where she shares the screen with Emma Roberts. Referring to this venture as "my actress era" in the trailer, Kim showcases her commitment to exploring new realms of entertainment.
However, amidst her burgeoning acting career, Kim emphasizes that she remains deeply involved in her business endeavors, juggling a packed schedule of meetings and other professional commitments. Notably, she also reminds fans that she's simultaneously pursuing her law degree, showcasing her dedication to both her academic and professional pursuits.
In the trailer, tensions between Kim, 43, and Khloé reach a boiling point. Kim confides in their mom, revealing that she finds Khloé "very judgmental" and later admits, "Khloé is unbearable these days."
Their disagreement escalates when Kim suggests that Khloé has "a stick up" her a--, prompting Khloé to confront her sister about her behavior. Khloé expresses her frustration, telling Kim, "You are going through a lot right now and you're taking it out on me," before Kim abruptly tells her to "get out."
In a confessional, Khloé asserts her independence, declaring, "I don't care what other people think. I'm happy!"
Fans can catch all the drama unfold when Season 5 of The Kardashians premieres Thursday, May 23 on Hulu.
The Quran - Chapter Al-Hujurat : 11
O believers! Do not let some ˹men˺ ridicule others, they may be better than them, nor let ˹some˺ women ridicule other women, they may be better than them. Do not defame one another, nor call each other by offensive nicknames. How evil it is to act rebelliously after having faith! And whoever does not repent, it is they who are the ˹true˺ wrongdoers.
From birth, there is hidden in every man an instinct to be ‘great’. That is why, if a man finds some weakness in another man, he makes a point of highlighting it, so that in this way he may prove himself to be great and the other small.
He ridicules the other person, finds fault with him and calls him by insulting nicknames, in order to satisfy his instinct for self-aggrandisement.
But the criterion of goodness or badness is not that which an individual himself decides upon. One is really good who is good in the eyes of God and one is bad if he is adjudged bad in the eyes of God.
If a man really develops these feelings in himself, he will lose the desire to be known as ‘great’. Ridiculing others, finding fault with others, giving nicknames to others will all become meaningless to him, because he will come to know that a man’s true status and position are actually going to be determined by God.
He will then ponder over the fact that if he considers anyone as small in this world and if later, in the real world of the Hereafter, he (the latter) is treated as worthy of respect, his way of thinking will prove to be absolutely meaningless.
