Mamie Laverock is receiving support from her When Calls the Heart costars as she recovers from a fall from a hospital balcony last month.
Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth Thornton on the Hallmark series, shared that she has been in touch with the 19-year-old Laverock following her fall from a five-story hospital balcony. “Thank you so much for asking; we’ve been in touch and we are wishing her all the best,” Krakow, 39, told Page Six. “She’s such a great girl and I hope it’s just the speediest recovery,” she added, noting that they want to respect her family’s privacy during this time.
Krakow also mentioned the overwhelming support from When Calls the Heart fans, saying, “It really is amazing, thank you.”
Krakow's comments follow an update from Laverock’s family posted on Facebook on Friday, June 7. The post included a photo showing Laverock’s hand with an IV cannula, holding a teddy bear, alongside part of her hospital bed and gown.
On May 30, a family spokesperson confirmed Laverock’s release from surgery, and her mother, Rockmann, provided an update to the Los Angeles Times. She shared that Laverock had "opened her eyes" for the first time since her fall on May 26. "Let's just hope this is the turnaround and she's going to get through this now. I couldn't be happier that people reached out and cared," Rockmann said, adding that “the story will be told.”
Rockmann did not disclose specific details about Laverock’s injuries but mentioned her daughter was in "tremendous pain" after her body was "shattered" from the fall. Laverock was "aware" and able to squeeze her mother's hand but required sedation to aid her recovery.
In a later GoFundMe update, Rockmann, along with Laverock's father, John Laverock, and stepfather, Rob Compton, shared that the actress had undergone multiple surgeries, including two 11-hour surgeries with two doctors, a three-hour surgery, and another surgery recently. "We have nothing but gratitude for the doctors and nurses who have been exemplary in her care since May 26," the update read.
Rockmann also asserted that her daughter's fall was not intentional, blaming St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, Canada, where she was admitted for a medical emergency earlier in May and fell while allegedly being escorted around the facility. "This is an absolute miracle and there will be accountability," Rockmann told the Los Angeles Times. "All we care about is that Mamie can make a recovery and that she’s alive and that she’s fighting and that she’s strong. It's unbelievable that she’s with us."
A spokesperson for Providence Health Care, which operates St. Paul's Hospital, stated that they do not comment on patient-related matters due to privacy and confidentiality policies. However, they did say: "In cases related to patient safety, an internal critical incident review is conducted to determine exactly what happened and to make recommendations for improved patient safety."
"Our hearts go out to the patient, family, and all affected by this event, and we offer our best wishes for a full recovery," the spokesperson added.
The Quran - Chapter Ar-Rahman : 35
Flames of fire and ˹molten˺ copper will be sent against you, and you will not be able to defend one another.
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
˹How horrible will it be˺ when the heavens will split apart, becoming rose-red like ˹burnt˺ oil!
Then which of your Lord’s favours will you both deny?
Sayyidna Ibn ` Abbas ؓ and other leading authorities on Qur'anic exegesis have said that the word shuwaz with refers to 'flame or fire without smoke' and the word nuhas refers to 'smoke in which there is no flame'.
This verse too addresses the two species of creation, the jinns and mankind. It addresses them and describes how fire and smoke will be unleashed against them. The verse could mean that after the reckoning is over, and the disbelievers are sent to the Hell, they will experience two different types of punishment.
In some places there will be only fire and flame, with no smoke at all. In other places there will be only smoke and no flame or fire. Other Qur'anic exegetes regard this verse as a supplement to the preceding one, and assign the following meaning to it: O jinn and mankind, it is not within your power to cross the bounds of the heavens.
If you do attempt to escape on the Day of Resurrection, then the angels [ including those guarding the Hellfire ] will bring you back by directing the flames of fire and smoke.
The verb فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ fala-tantasiran is derived from اِنتِصَار intisar which means 'to help someone to defend him against a calamity' and thus the words فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ fala-tantasiran signify that the jinns and mankind will not be able to help each other against Divine punishment, try as they might.
