Kim Kardashian Brain Aneurysm Discovery: Why the Prenuvo Scan and Stress Are Trending

During a recent episode of her hit reality show, The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian disclosed a serious health finding: doctors discovered a small brain aneurysm during a Prenuvo scan, a type of full-body MRI.

The 45-year-old U.S. reality star, known globally for her business empire and high-profile family, revealed the news to her sister Kourtney Kardashian in the Nov. 20 episode.

“I did a Prenuvo scan, and they called me today, and they’re like, ‘Everything looks great. But you have an aneurysm in your brain,'” Kim shared.

Interestingly, the aneurysm doctors found wasn't a new development. Kim added that the medical professionals believed it had been present for years. The Prenuvo scan, which is marketed as a proactive health tool to identify diseases early, served its purpose by flagging the condition.

Naturally, the diagnosis was alarming. Kim Kardashian immediately reached out to a specialist, brain surgeon Keith Black, to review the images.

"I sent him a picture of it, and he was like, ‘I want you to come in for all this imaging,'" she recalled. When she asked what could cause the aneurysm to rupture, the answer was chillingly simple: stress.

At the time of the finding, Kim was deep in the high-pressure world of law—"studying 10 hours a day" for the upcoming bar exam. Given the intense stress of her daily life, waiting wasn't a comforting option. Sister Kourtney also voiced her concern during a confessional: “I’m definitely worried about Kim. She has so much going on between work and her four kids, that I don’t want her to have an aneurysm, of course.”

This isn't the first time Kim Kardashian has championed the Prenuvo full-body MRI. In 2023, she posted about the "life-saving" scan on Instagram, emphasizing that it was a PSA and not an advertisement, crediting it with saving some of her friends' lives.

Following the initial reveal in the Season 7 premiere, Kim provided an important update on Good Morning America to host Robin Roberts.

"You'll see in the next episode, I did go and get a Prenuvo scan. And I had to end up going and getting tons of other brain scans at Cedars-Sinai with all the team," she confirmed, referencing the prominent U.S. medical center.

She encouraged fans to watch the show for the full story, but offered a reassuring note: "Everything works out." Kim concluded with a powerful message for her U.S. audience: "It's just a good measure to go... Make sure that you always check everything. Health is wealth, and you just have to be careful with everything that you do."

The high-stress environment surrounding her health scare was compounded by her ongoing relationship challenges with ex-husband, Kanye West, with whom she shares four children: North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6. Kim admitted to being "very tested" and even experienced a return of her psoriasis, noting, "I felt more stressed, probably just because I had to super, super protect what I had to protect. My kids are involved now."

New episodes of The Kardashians premiere Thursdays at 12 a.m. ET on Hulu.
