Kim Kardashian Reflects on Managing Psoriasis with Unconventional Remedies

Kim Kardashian reminisced about her battle with psoriasis and some of the unconventional remedies she explored to manage the chronic skin condition on the July 16 episode of the SHE MD podcast.

The Skims founder shared with hosts Mary Alice Haney and Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, along with guest rheumatologist Dr. Daniel Wallace, that she’s the only one of Kris Jenner’s six children who inherited their mom’s psoriasis. However, Kardashian, now 43, noted that she didn’t develop the condition until she was 30.

“I remember being out in New York wearing a silver sequined dress, and it was itchy. I thought it was just a rash from the dress because it appeared that night. When I got home and showed my mom, she looked at my legs and said, ‘Oh my God, you have psoriasis,’” Kardashian recalled.

A cortisone shot helped alleviate the condition for a few years, but it reappeared about five years later, and she hasn’t been able to get rid of it since.

"Sometimes, I’ll have an itch attack and scratch until I bleed. It’s unbearable,” she admitted.

The reality TV star mentioned that when she posted about her psoriasis, she received a flood of home remedies from people. She tried them all.

“I drank tar tea, used special herbs, followed a celery juice diet for six weeks, and tried every topical cream and soap, both natural and unnatural. At some points, I was just like, ‘I’ll do anything,’” Kardashian said.

However, the best advice she received came from Beverly Hills dermatologist Dr. Harold Lancer, who prescribed her a cream and suggested wrapping the affected areas in Saran Wrap overnight.

“When it was on my legs, I’d apply the cream, wrap them in Saran Wrap, put on socks, and go to bed. I’d do the same for my elbows, securing the wrap with a hair tie so it wouldn’t come loose,” she explained. “I sounded like the Tin Man, super crunchy,” she joked, referencing The Wizard of Oz’s metal character.

Kardashian confirmed that this method worked. “It would take it away,” she said.
