Lauren Manzo and Vito Scalia have decided to divorce.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey alum confirmed the news Tuesday with a video on Instagram.
“By now you guys have seen the news that has broken,” said Lauren, 35, who is the daughter of OG RHONJ star Caroline Manzo. “Just want to let you guys know, we’re all good, this has been done for a very long time.”
She explained, “The last part of the process was filing. We were on the same page, this is something that we did together.”
The Cafface Beauty Bar owner said she and Scalia, 37, “love and respect each other, and we continue to move forward as a family.”
She continued, “All that matters to us is that our daughter is happy and healthy. Her privacy is important to us. We haven’t been on TV in seven years, which is why we did not feel the need for some dramatic announcement. And we continue to move forward with love and respect for each other, and we will always be a family, and that’s it. It’s about our daughter and her privacy because she didn’t ask to be on TV — we did. So, we appreciate you guys.”
According to court documents first obtained by , Scalia cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split on Sept. 5. Lauren was served the legal paperwork on Sept. 29.
“The parties have experienced irreconcilable differences for a period of at least six months which has caused the breakdown of their marriage and it is apparent that the marriage should be dissolved as there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation,” Scalia stated in the documents.
The pair first met at Fordham University in New York when Scalia roomed in the same dorm as Manzo’s brother Albie. She recalled their meet-cute in a 2015 interview with The Record.
“Al knocked on Vito’s door and Vito literally rolls off the top bunk. He had his underwear on and his hair was all messy, and he was like, ‘Yo,’” she said at the time, per Bravo’s The Daily Dish. “Literally, he couldn’t have looked worse. And I was in love with him the second I saw him.”
The couple announced their engagement in November 2013 via Caroline’s website, in which she wrote alongside a photo of Lauren and her fiancé, with Lauren’s ring in full view: “My baby is engaged!!!”
Two years later, they tied the knot at St. Cyril’s Church in New York City in July 2015.
The newlyweds were accompanied by the bride’s mother, father Albert, 63, and brothers Chris, 34, and Albie, 37. RHONJ stars past and present, including Jacqueline Laurita, Dina Manzo, Kathy Wakile, Melissa Gorga, and Rosie Pierri, were also in attendance.
Caroline, 62, also shared with the outlet at the time: “I’m excited to see my daughter just start her life. I want her to just embrace this moment and I want to see her really, really shine. And that’s, for me, that’s worth more than anything on the planet, to see your kids truly, truly happy.”
In 2017, the former Manzo’d with Children star and Scalia exclusively revealed that they were pregnant with their first child.
“We are so excited to be expecting our first child, due in early 2017,” the couple said in a joint statement at the time. “What a crazy year it has been for us. Life is full of wonderful surprises!”
They went on to welcome daughter Marchesa Anna Scalia, now 6, on Feb. 24, 2017.
“Anna is both of our grandmothers’ names and it sounded nice, so it was a perfect fit. I always loved the name Marchesa — no, not named after the designer, but obviously where I heard the name first and fell in love with it,” Lauren explained at the time. “I always said if I ever had a girl I would name her Marchesa.”
