A Too Hot to Handle baby is coming in 2024!
Show alums Emily Miller and Cam Holmes are expecting a baby in June announce.
The happy news comes a year and a half after Miller, 29, and Holmes, 27, suffered a pregnancy loss. At the time, Miller was hospitalized for an ectopic pregnancy — which occurs "when a fertilized egg implants and grows outside the main cavity of the uterus," according to the Mayo Clinic — and had to have surgery to remove her fallopian tube.
Yet when it descends upon them: how evil will that morning be for those who had been warned! And turn away from them for a while. You will see, and they too will see!(The Quran - Chapter Saffat : 177 - 179)
"After what happened last time, I didn't even know if I'd even want to get pregnant again in case I had to go through that again," Miller tells. "It sounds cliché, but it really is our little miracle. This is what I'm so excited for, to be able to tell people it is possible."
Just "two weeks after conceiving," Miller says she instinctively knew she was pregnant again.
"I know it sounds kind of crazy, but because I've been pregnant before, I just had the same symptoms," she says. "My boobs are really small naturally, and they swelled up straight away. It's just woman instincts."
Still, Miller says she didn't "want to get ahead" of herself and "jinx" anything, so she waited until her next missed period to take a test. Her mom was the first person Miller told, given that she's been living at her house while she and Holmes wait to move into their new home. (Holmes has been living with friends in the interim.)
"As soon as I took the pregnancy test, I came out of the bathroom, and she was literally walking past my room, and so I said, 'Oh my God, Mum,'" Miller recalls. "We were both just hugging each other in tears. She's been so good. If I come through the door even holding a shopping bag from the supermarket, she'll be like, 'No, no, no, no, no. Let me take that. Let me take that.' She's been so sweet because she's done it. I've got two brothers, so she's been through it three times herself. She's an absolute pro, so if I'm feeling a bit sick or tired, she knows the right things to help me."
Miller told Holmes, meanwhile, while the pair were on a trip she planned for his birthday in October.
"I was like, 'I'm not going to tell him on his birthday. I'll let him have that day for himself. I'll tell him the day after,'" she says. "So the day after we were out for dinner, and, honestly, I wish I recorded his reaction because it looked like someone had seen a ghost."
"I'll say it wasn't the reaction I was hoping for, but he's more of a realist," she continues with a laugh. "I think, because of what happened last time, he was just very skeptical, and he was just worried, I think, is what it came down to. He was just like, 'But what if it happens again?' "
Miller tells she and Holmes "really weren't trying" to get pregnant again, so Holmes was "completely caught off-guard."
"I was actually on my period when we conceived," she says. "I think that's why he was so shocked. But after a couple of days of us talking, we realized this is a miracle. Now, he's so excited. We both are."
Since there was some fear going into this pregnancy, Miller got an early scan at seven weeks "to make sure everything was fine." Then, at her 12-week scan, her doctor ensured her baby was looking "healthy."
"I've got the all clear from the doctors," she says.
Currently at 14 weeks, Miller says she's been experiencing lots of "nausea and tiredness."
"All I do is sleep, and when I'm not asleep, I feel sick, so it's been pretty tough," she says. "Apparently, the second trimester is where it's at."
At 20 weeks, Miller and Holmes plan to find out the sex of their baby, but they're still deciding on names.
"We've got the boy name pretty much sorted out," she says. "Obviously, I don't want to give it away, but it's sentimental. It's my granddad's name, and he's no longer with us. It's a very sweet name, and we both agree on it. We're still struggling with a girl's name."
Since the baby is due on the first day of summer in June, they're considering the name Summer if it's a girl.
"I'm like, 'Is that really cliché?'" she says. "The boy's name was so easy. With the girl's name, I don't know. It's definitely proven more difficult."
After telling the rest of her family about the baby news on Christmas Eve, Miller says is now going into nesting mode.
"Once they all get involved, and they start texting me every day, sending me links to cute clothes and prams and whatever, I'll get in the spirit," she says. "[And me and Cam] are just about to move back in together, just in time for baby."
As she looks to the future, Miller says she thinks she and Holmes will definitely balance each other out as parents.
"We've spoken about this, and I'm definitely going to be the pushover," she says. "If you saw the way I treated my dog [who passed], you would understand what he means. Cam's dad was in the military, so Cam grew up with ... I wouldn't say a strict upbringing, but, definitely, there were rules in place. So, yeah, I'm definitely going to be the more lenient one."
Miller and Holmes first met while filming season 2 of Netflix's Too Hot to Handle in 2020. The two U.K. natives celebrated their three-year anniversary of dating on Dec. 18.
"When we met on the show, we both weren't looking for anything serious," she says. "If anything, I wanted a hot international man but got someone from Wales. Looking back, we couldn't have done it without each other. The whole experience would not have been the same without him, and I'm just so happy that [Alexa-style narrator] Lana brought us together, honestly."
With her pregnancy news now out, Miller is also looking forward to setting the record straight to her Instagram followers who have been asking her recently whether she got breast implants given her bigger chest.
"I'm chuckling inside," she says. "It's so funny. I'm just like, 'Ah, only a couple more weeks 'til you guys will know.' It's flattering that people are noticing my bigger boobs. I've never had that confidence before, so it's a positive!"
