Tammy Slaton voices her struggle, admitting, “Amy’s slimmed down and is at ease in her own skin, but my excess skin makes me feel otherwise,” in a revealing clip.
The upcoming season of TLC’s “1000-Lb. Sisters” finds both Tammy and Amy Slaton striving for fresh beginnings.
Amy, fresh off a divorce from her husband of six years, Michael Halterman, is in pursuit of change.
“What do you think of my fierce single-mom style?” Amy inquires of Tammy, who sharply retorts, “It’s just bad.”
In this clip, Amy boldly embraces an exotic dance class, performing splits, straddling a chair, and even playfully slapping her own backside while receiving cheers of encouragement.
“Now that I’m single, I’ve embarked on a journey to discover the real Amy, and I’m realizing I have far more potential than I ever imagined,” the 36-year-old shares.
Meanwhile, Tammy, too, is on a quest to reclaim her self-esteem.
At 38, having undergone bariatric surgery in July 2022 and shedding 500 lbs since starting her weight loss quest, Tammy remains hopeful for a skin removal procedure.
“Amy’s slimmed down and feels at ease with her body, but my excess skin makes me feel different,” she confesses.
During a consultation, the surgeon outlines, “You have loose skin from head to toe. This will necessitate several surgeries and multiple healing stages.”
“I’m terrified that I won’t be granted approval for the skin removal surgery,” Tammy confesses.
This season also chronicles Tammy and Amy embarking on a family trip to London with their sister Amanda and brother Chris. “I don’t think they’re ready for us,” Amy remarks, to which Tammy adds, “They better brace themselves!”
“In the past, our family vacations have caused rifts,” Chris observes. “I hope this trip can bring us closer together.”
However, tensions soon flare as the sisters become embroiled in a heated argument, with Amy and Amanda voicing their exasperation over Tammy’s behavior and manner of speaking.
“I’ve tolerated this for over 30 years because, oh, poor Tammy—she’s overweight, she can’t do anything,” Amanda declares. “But now that she’s shed the weight, I’m not making excuses for that attitude anymore.”
“I feel like she’s envious now that I’ve lost so much weight,” Tammy confides in a confessional about Amanda. “She’s no longer the ‘pretty sister.’”
Season six of “1000-Lb. Sisters” is set to premiere on Tuesday, October 8, at 9 PM ET/PT.
