Peter Frampton Never Give-up Amid Inclusion Body Myositis Affect Arms & Hands

Peter Frampton finds it "humbling" to feel the "special love" from fans at his concerts and hopes they "appreciate the fact that I’m not giving up."

The 74-year-old music legend shared that he remains determined to continue performing and creating music despite the increasing symptoms of inclusion body myositis affecting his arms and hands. This condition, part of the inflammatory myopathies group, causes chronic, progressive muscle inflammation and weakness, according to the National Institutes of Health.

However, Frampton is not letting this condition hold him back.

"During performances, we all sit down now because I have to sit, so my whole band sits too. It feels like we’re in a living room, even in a large venue," he explains. He describes how fans metaphorically "wrap their arms around us on stage."

"It’s incredibly humbling to feel their special love for me during concerts," Frampton adds. "It's pretty incredible."

The "Show Me the Way" singer notes that the condition not only affects his ability to stand on stage but also impacts his guitar playing due to the pressure required to press down on the frets.

Frampton first disclosed his inclusion body myositis diagnosis in 2019 on CBS This Morning: Saturday, revealing that doctors identified the condition after he fell onstage in mid-2015.

Reflecting on past challenges, Frampton said, "Throughout my life, whenever something devastating has happened in my career or personal life, I’ve always picked myself up and changed directions."

Frampton's determination also drives his efforts to advance research on inclusion body myositis. He started the Peter Frampton Fund at Johns Hopkins Hospital to support others with the disease. "We don’t have a cure right now, and all the money raised is funding drug trials," he shares.

The response from fans has been overwhelmingly supportive, with many donating to the fund. "I can't thank them enough," Frampton says, expressing his gratitude. "They care, you know, they really care."

The Quran - Chapter Al-Qamar : 41 - 42

And indeed, the warnings ˹also˺ came to the people of Pharaoh.

˹But˺ they rejected all of Our signs, so We seized them with the ˹crushing˺ grip of the Almighty, Most Powerful.

Pharaoh was a very powerful ruler of his time, but on rejecting the truth he became valueless in the eyes of God. Thereafter, he was killed like any other helpless man. In this world, a man standing out against the Truth renders himself weak.
